Finding Fulfillment

Good morning, everyone from Pastor Todd Boxley. Welcome to “Try Jesus!” If this is your first time joining us, it’s great to have you with us. I would like to thank all the new members for joining “Try Jesus.” Also welcome those in Texas, Maryland, Iowa, Kansas, and Illinois.

Last week was such an encouragement to all those that responded to the message. To God be all the glory! If you have been keeping up with current events, you know that persecutions upon religious rights have escalated.

But we must continue to hold to the power of God’s word. In (1 Peter 3:12-16) we are told that the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous. He hears our prayers, and is against them that do evil.

Suffering for the gospel, causes us to rejoice and be blessed by his protection. We never need to fear what man can do to us. Finally, we are to sanctity God in our hearts. That we are to set apart ourselves unto God’s purpose and plan.

When we dedicate ourselves to God, their persecution and accusations will be empty and only embarrass them. God is firmly with his church. Greater indeed is he that is within us than he (Satan) that is in the world. Amen?

🎵 Our God is an awesome God, who reigns from heaven above, with wisdom, power, and love, our God is an awesome God! 🎵 Let’s believe God in prayer this morning.

“Heavenly Father, we thank you for graciously watching over us this week. You have broken the enemies’ devices against us. You have preserved us from deadly pestilence and have given us abundant peace.

Lord, once again, we come to your spiritual alter to be fed that spiritual food that causes us to take hold of your armor and carry the sword of the Spirit to defeat every weapon of the enemy. Strengthen us in our weaknesses Lord.

Holy Spirit, open our understanding, that we would be willing vessels, set apart for the master’s use. Help us to let your light in us shine before all peoples. Bless your word in us today.

Create in us clean hearts and renew a right spirit in us. We ask this in your glorious name, Amen.” Have you ever experienced anything in life that left you wanting more?

Children are always a great barometer to use when relating it to any specific topics. I say that because children start out in life with a heart and eyes of innocence. Children can take anything given to them and get the most enjoyment out of it.

As an adolescent, I watched other kids play with things for hours on end. Some children are great at amusing themselves with very little items. An infant can be amused by a cute soft teddy bear for hours.

Depending on the age, some children can be placed in the middle of the room with an inexpensive toy, and have fun for hours. But with many adults, finding that same fun becomes tedious. Why? Because the innocence within fades.

This God given innocence is like a vacuum cleaner. Baby Photo (by Pixabay on Pexels.com)

This God given innocence is like a vacuum cleaner. The vacuum bag is empty until you fill it up with something. When a child enters into this world, that innocence (vacuum bag) is filled with God’s presence.

How many of you have ever seen a newborn in a bassinet or crib and watch his face light with smiles or laughter? When I was young and saw my little sister in the crib, I asked my mother what she was smiling about.

My mother told me that God’s angels were playing with her. Since children are so inquisitive, my next question was, “Well, why can’t I see them?” My mother told me that these angels are only for the eyes of babies.

After this stage in life, the innocence slowly starts to fade away. The born in sin starts to show itself outwardly. Most, if not all of you parents, (especially moms) know what I’m speaking about. We refer to it as “the terrible twos.”

Thats when the house has to be safe guarded against the little fingers of those beautiful gifts God gave us, right? That corrupted flesh starts to take over pretty quickly. You used to hear words in the house like, “Oh, what a beautiful baby! Oh, such an adorable smile!”

Two years later you hear, “Hey, get down from there! Take that out of mouth!, Don’t touch that! And even after all that, it’s only the beginning. They haven’t even scratched the service of the fulfillment they are seeking.

And of course, this depends on the parenting, leading, guidance, and planning you are instilling in them. The human life has a void that God originally filled at all times.

Before the transgression of Adam and Eve, God was with them continually. His presence filled their day. They were in total communion with God. (Genesis 2:2-25). But when disobedience (sin) came that vacuum was filled by someone else (Satan).

You see my beloved friends, everything we place our eyes on, Satan has sown corruption around it and in it. The fulfillment many are seeking today doesn’t match the fulfillment they were created for.

When God breathed the breath of life into Adam, it was a breathed filled to the full of Adam. When your vacuum cleaner doesn’t pick up any dirt, that’s a good thing, right? It’s still filling up, but not with dirt.

Adam had all the fulfillment he needed with God. Once Satan entered the scene, and Adam and Eve sinned, one fulfillment was replaced with another. The garden was now lost. The place Adam was supposed to cultivate was lost.

The Bible tells us we cannot serve two masters (Matthew 6:24). You cannot be filled with the righteousness of God and at the same time dabble in sinful activities on a regular basis. Some want God, but they want the world also.

Please read these verses aloud to your own heart.
15} “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16} For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17} And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.” (1 John 2:15-17 KJV).

So, finding complete fulfillment can only come through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Worldliness affects us internally because it begins in the heart. God is love and God loves you (1 John 4:8-10). The Bible tells us Jesus fulfilled the law.

17} “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18} For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” (Matthew 5:17-18 KJV).

The word fulfil, fulfillment, is the state of a process, or act by which a situation comes to a complete end, whether ultimately good or bad. By now most of long time “TRY JESUS” members have heard me interject a phrase or comment from Fred Sanford to illustrate a point.

In one episode, Fred and his son were having a conversation about him sending Fred to a senior citizen home. After arriving, Fred meets the manager of the facility. She greets Fred by saying, “Just what this place needs new blood.”

Mrs. Eckerd tells Fred “you know we’re fully integrated here!” Fred tells her, “I know you’re fully something!” Jesus certainly knew what the religious leaders were full of (John 8:44). The Pharisees and Sadducees would never find fulfillment outside of Jesus.

27} “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.

28} Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. (Matthew 23:27-28 KJV). They couldn’t find fulfillment being used of the devil. (John 8:37-44).

Jesus also spoke about raising from the dead (John 11:25). People searching for tranquility and peace in this world without God will end up being delusional and find hopelessness. Paul stated that if Jesus did not rise from the dead, your faith is in vain (1 Corinthians 15:16-20).

The word vain (mataios) meaning to be empty and profitless. Paul goes on to say that if in this life, Christ did not raise from the dead, then we are still in our sins and the most miserable people on earth. Where’s the fulfillment in that?

If this were the case, Christians would not be forgiven for their sins or have any hope of eternal life. If what Christians believe were not true, we would be pitiful because we would be suffering for no purpose.]

[So, again, The Greek vocabulary for fulfillment consists of the word (pleroo) “to fill,” which reflects the sense of the Hebrew (mala) and (teleo), to complete, bring to an end.]

If you are living a life that seems empty and unfulfilled, be encouraged that God loves you and wants to bring fruition (promise of completion) to your life (Philippians 1:6). All of God promises are yes and Amen! (2 Corinthians 1:20).

What things in your life are you looking to be fulfilled? Jesus told his followers that blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, they shall be filled (Matthew 5:6). Today, everyone is trying to find the key to happiness.

But without Jesus, many are just grasping in darkness. It’s like living in the desert seeing utopian mirages everywhere you go. The phrase “misery loves company” has exploded in our nation. Many have lost hope.

The book of Proverbs explains it this way. “Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.” (Proverbs 13:12 KJV). This is described as something being delayed.

[Hope deferred meaning, “long drawn out” or “delayed in fulfillment”) can cause disappointment and depression in body and spirit. If a person’s hope is constantly delayed, he becomes frustrated and loses heart.]

The realization of hope gives encouragement. Just like a tree that gives life. It brings new vitality to the body and the spirit. Today, on a scale of
1-10, how much hope do you have? How much peace do you have?

How much joy do you have? How much trust do you have? The Bible tells us in all our getting and wanting, get understanding (Proverbs 4:7). That is, ask God for wisdom. Ask, seek, and knock continually on the heart of God.

And then, you can listen as Joshua did and sit and hear as Mary (and Martha) did and know you can be fulfilled in all God has blessed you with. Please read both of these passages aloud to your heart (Joshua 1:
6-9; Luke 10:41-42).

All the fulfillment you seek today should be soaked in love towards building your personal relationship with the Lord (James 2:
8-10; Romans 8:4). Many people today are lost in the worlds failed utopian search.

Again, repeating things are necessary when brokenness keeps holding many captive in Satan’s destructive clutches. All of us are seeking fulfillment in life. But what do you consider fulfilling? Many people search for years trying to find peace and fulfillment.

Many people who have heard the message of the cross, have scoffed at how Jesus can transform their life. Jesus came to help the oppressed, poor, the struggling and those without hope.

Jesus’ words are good news because they offer freedom, fulfillment, spiritual blessings, and eternal life. Why then do people choose the alternative of rejecting salvation? (Hebrews 2:
1-4).

Even so, God continues to knock on our hearts. 14} “Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,

15} And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel” (Mark 1:
14-15 KJV).

“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me” (Revelation 3:20 KJV). The Pharisees and Sadducees rejected that knocking.

In
2024, people are still rejecting that knocking to their own destruction. The religious leaders in Jesus’ day were characterized as whitewashed tombs. They looked the part outwardly, but inside were full of dead man’s bones.

They had no life inside that would bring fulfillment. Do you believe our country has many religions that look like the religious leaders in Jesus’ day? As our nation continues in its moral decline, the hope from younger generations looks hopeless to them.

More and more young people feel they have no other options but to end the misery through suicide. But that is never the answer. Suicide only quickens the judgement process. God has placed life inside us that fights to survive.

Jesus came to give us life, and life more abundantly. The answer is not more of the world, but more of Jesus. Society has become fixated on things they think will make them happy and contented.

Every day you see it in the lives of celebrities who wreck their lives and relationships in pursuit of success. Or business executives who, despite their wealth, are consumed with greed. What about ordinary people like us?

Some of us suffer from small compulsions. Like feeding an addiction to shopping, because it yields a burst of positive feelings. About 20 Years ago I was hooked on shopping at Best Buy. I thought electronics were so cool.

I would purchase new gadgets as soon as they came to market. But it soon became dull and unfulfilled to me. The Lord took my heart to other areas of what his will and purpose was for my life.

Many people are fixated on finding the right man or woman. They bounce from one relationship to the other, looking for love in all the wrong places. Many women will stay abusive relationships thinking this is all there is.

But God is always standing by to listen to your cry of pain. He sees your tears. He is just waiting for you to call out to him and invite him into your life. You can achieve the fulfillment you are searching for.

🗣📢 Last words: Here are just a few warning signs to know when fulfillment can be drifting away from you.

A) Craving for physical pleasure. Being preoccupied with gratifying physical desires. Paul told believers to not allow sin to reign in their mortal bodies. (Romans 6:
11-14).

B) Craving for everything we see. The Bible tells us hell and destruction are never full, so the eyes of a man are never satisfied (Proverbs 27:20). I always tell people, “It’s ok to have some stuff, just don’t allow the stuff to have you.” Don’t bow to the god of materialism.

C) Pride in our achievements and possessions. This kind of pride is different than thankful accomplishments that God has blessed us with. It hurts us when this obsession becomes about me, myself, and I.

When the serpent tempted Eve, he tempted her in these areas. When the devil tempted Jesus in the wilderness, these were also his three areas of attack (Matthew 4:
1-11). Pride always proceeds the fall. (Proverbs 16:18).

Fulfillment is in reach when you allow God to be Lord of your life. Submit your thoughts to his control. Doing so will cause you to survive all the spiritual warfare you face. Are you ready for a fulfilled life?

🛐 Here’s a prayer you can pray to gain fulfillment. “Heavenly Father, thank you for showing me the very things that were stealing my joy and holding me in bondage. I know now that your love can break all depression in my life.

Lord, please help me to find fulfillment in your presence. Help me to live in such a way that my actions serve as a reflection of your own grace and mercy. Teach me to seek first your Kingdom, in a life that brings glory to your name.

Jesus, your word tells me that you are my shepherd, and I shall not want (lack). Thank you, that despite my circumstances, your truth anchors me to you. You are my sure and steady cornerstone.

Lord, I have kept my eyes on what the world is offering instead of what you have already done for me. This forces me to keep my eyes on my circumstances. Please guide and direct me where you want me to be.

Help my ears to be attentive to what you have to say, and help me to be quick to obey. Please help me to be more like you. Lord, I desire a fulfilled life of oneness with you. Holy Spirit, fill my life. In Jesus name, Amen.”

It’s on the way.  Try Jesus

Sermon post, written by Pastor Todd Boxley

Good morning, everyone. Welcome to “Try Jesus!” If this is your first time joining us, it’s great to have you with us. I would like to thank all the new members for joining “Try Jesus.” Also welcome those in Utah, Mississippi, Indiana, Arizona, and Virginia.

How many of you have ever been on a seesaw? What was your experience like? Did you enjoy being up or being down better? Sometimes the experience can keep you down if the other person doesn’t match your stature.

I’m glad I used that word instead the one that crossed my mind earlier. Thank you, Lord. (Smile). If you’re like the person who always seems to be down on the seesaw of life, you don’t have to be. In Christ you can always be up.

The Bible tells us to set our affections on things above and not on the earth. That is, keep your heart towards God and keep your eyes on the prize, Jesus!

Let’s set our eyes on the Lord this morning. “Heavenly Father, thank you for giving us life today. Thank you for gathering hearts to your word today. Lord, help those this morning to hear your powerful word.

Soften their hearts and prepare them to receive your word. I pray that you would remove any distractions or obstacles preventing them from fully engaging in “TRY JESUS.” Let truth break down every barrier in minds and hearts.

Help those during this time of year to know you are the light of life. Holy Spirit, help those who are struggling with doubts or fears. Speak to them and give them the reassurance they need.

I pray that your word will bring comfort and hope to those seeking relief in their hearts and minds today. Lord, break every obstacle the enemy has set in their life, in Jesus’ name, amen.”

Today’s message will be begin today and run as a series until the rest of the month. Lord willing, I pray each message would bring a greater light of truth to your soul.

There are many things in life that cause a cloud to form where the Son should be. Since Covid, how many of you have changed the way you do shopping? There have been other mitigating factors that have caused people to rethink how they shop.

Of course, this may depend on the area where you live. Covid certainly enriched the cleaning industry, right? It also helped the delivery industry as well. If you keep doing research, you will find that there were (according to some economists) some winners and lovers.

Some businesses of course weren’t that affected by the pandemic. As we prepare to move into the New Year, some states, cities, and communities have been hit it hard because of the spillover negative erosion it has brought to many people.

But, like walking in deep heavy mud, or trying to swim in quicksand, it never slowed down the advertising industry. Those quick-witted minds just got together and continued to make sure the package got delivered to your psyche.

Have you ever listened to mall music or grocery store music while during your shopping? I have witnessed people break out into singing or humming their favorite tune. The package, somehow, some way, gets delivered to you.

During this time of year, the businesses ramp up the attack on your precious senses. Don’t think so? You can do your own research on how much income people spend on holidays versus non-holidays.

If our purses and wallets could talk, they might say (as if on a horse), “Whoa boy!” “Slow down!” How many of you know the advertisement industry really gets going this time of year? Covid or nothing else seemed to slow them down.

The competitors we all know as USPS, FedEx, UPS, The UPS Store, Good Greek Moving & Storage, Boeing and other companies have continued to push full speed ahead in getting packages delivered to their customers.

The body of Christ and the church went through similar Covid road blocks, but continued to make sure the word of God was delivered without interruption. If you remember, or took notice, some churches affected decided to shut everything down.

Some decided to move outside. Some decided to scale down inside and hold more than one service. Some decided to hold their services in their cars outside. I had a friend tell me her church decided to do radio and conference calls.

Some were forced to shut down because they were renting the space provided. The church I pastored some time ago hit that wall. Being non-denominational at that time, we did not own the property. But God continued to lead us.

That places me in the camp of never putting the brakes on spreading the good news of the gospel. Question, “Wherever Jesus went, did diseases, sickness, or death ever stop his ministry from going forward?”

As the postal workers motto continues to say, “Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor hail, shall keep the postmen from their appointed rounds.” The gospel of Jesus Christ shall never be hindered from its appointed place.

The package is still on the way. Let’s move away from the commercial to the spiritual. If you have a Bible (and I hope you do), let’s begin to see how God deals with delays and hinderance concerning his people.

When God cuts us off, it’s not to harm us in anyway. His will, purpose, and plan is always best. (Photo by N. Cowley on Pexels.com).

When something is delayed, how do you feel? Do you consider yourself to be an impatient person? Do you get upset when special occasions are delayed? Do you think God gets upset when something is hindered or delayed?

Many people stay “cool as a cucumber” when things don’t happen at their appointed time. Are you one of them? The apostle Paul faced some hinderance in his life while running towards Jesus.

Paul wrote to the people of Rome while in Corinth. He desired to see them to preach the gospel of Jesus, the true Messiah. But God does everything in his timing, and his sovereign hand had prevented Paul from getting there to see the people.

Sometimes God’s hand is like the school crosswalk lady who watches over the children as they cross the street. She has authority over all other traffic. Her hand and sign tells the children “not now.”

Paul discerned that God had hindered his travel plans to see those in Rome. By the end of his third missionary journey, Paul had traveled through Syria, Galatia, Asia, Macedonia, and Achaia. Since he was delayed in going to Rome he wrote;

11} “For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established; 12} That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.

13} Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles.

14} I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. 15} So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. (Romans 1:11-15 KJV).

Paul understood where hindrances were and who they came from. (Romans 15:20-25). Paul’s priority was to preach the gospel in places that had not yet heard about Jesus.

The Greek word hindered (egkoptō) means to be impeded. To detain someone. It is to cut into, to impede one’s course by cutting off his way. Have you ever been cut in front of when shopping at your local grocery store?

I used to get a little angry if I was with my friends, waiting in line to get on the rollercoaster and some kids cut in-line because they saw someone they knew. But when God cuts us off, it’s not to harm us in anyway. His will, purpose, and plan is always best.

This happens to Balaam in (Numbers 22:
20-34). God was angry about Balaam’s greedy attitude. His greed for wealth offered by the king blinded him so that he could not see how God was trying to stop him.

This similarly took place with Jonah as well. He tried to get out of going to Nineveh to preach to the people about the judgement God would bring if they did not repent. (Jonah 1:
1-17; 2:1,10).

Many circumstances in life may bring hinderances our way. But are they God sent, self-inflicted, or is Satan involved? Many people point the finger of blame at God when they don’t know him. Satan is usually blamed last because he hides in the shadows and darkness.

Only those who live in the light can see and determine when Satan is the culprit behind crucial delays. But born-again believers know that though he may try, Satan can never stop God’s hand of blessing on us.

Paul faced the enemy’s tactics when preaching to those in Thessalonica. My friends, some people who attend church but never read their Bible are oblivious to Satan’s attacks (1 Thessalonians 2:
13-18). How do you know the enemy if you are spiritually unaware?

Satan is real. He is called the god of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4) and the prince of the powers in the unseen world (Ephesians 2:2). The Bible really doesn’t explain how this occurred, but Satan had worked in some way to keep Paul away.

Sometimes delays of good news can be self-inflicted. It could be opposition, illness, sin, travel complications, etc. (Psalm 66:18). And of course, there are times when our prayers are hindered because we refuse to forgive someone.

Being in conflict with others and failing to follow biblical commands hinders our prayer. (Matthew 5:
23-24; Mark 11:25-26).
Husbands and wives can have their prayers hindered if they carry their sins to bed against one another. (1 Peter 3:
7-12; Ephesians 4:26-27; 5:25-29). A man who honors his wife as his equal will protect, respect, help, and stay with her.

A godly husband will lighten her load wherever he can. He will be sensitive to her needs, and he will relate to her with courtesy, consideration, insight, and love that seeks the highest good for her life. He will sacrifice his own desires and place them under hers.

There are many difficulties that prevent us from accomplishing God’s work and trusting him through trials and suffering. However, most of the chaos in our lives is attributed to Satan (Ephesians 6:12; John 10:10).

Again, if you’re not walking in the light as he is in the light, you’ll find yourself spiritually tripping over things in the dark. When God slows something down from getting to us, it could be something else we need to learn before receiving it.

God always knows what’s best for us. Jesus told his followers that the Father in heaven desires to give us good things. Please read this great passage aloud to those with you or in your study groups (Matthew 7:
7-11).

Is something good in life worth waiting for? This nation is speeding ahead in technology, AI, social media, etc. But is it all good? The nation’s timing can always be off in many factors that affect its citizens.

But God’s timing is perfect throughout history. Yes, for us at times it may seem God’s timing may feel like a long, desperate delay. But since God can see past our lives, he can bring his perfect timing just as he pleases.

God is never early, never late. God is never in a hurry, but he is always on time. God’s perfect timing unveils two things concerning us. It helps our faith to grow, and we are forced to wait and trust in God.

It also enforces that he, and he alone gets the glory and praise for pulling us through times of waiting. (Psalm 27:14; 31:15; 37:9; 2 Peter 3:8; Isaiah 40:31; Ecclesiastes 3:11). The enemy can only do what God allows him to do. (Job 1:
8-12).

We live in a fallen nation and world that God has allowed Satan to be the prince of it, but only for a specific time. His downfall has already been set and written. He is shrewd, conniving, and seeks to destroy all that God loves.

In (2 Corinthians 11:14) we are told that Satan masquerades as an angel of light. To masquerade is to pretend to be something one is not, and Satan is really good at it. He is the chameleon of all chameleons.

When God sends something our way, Satan (if hearing about it) will try to hinder its scheduled arrival. This happened to Daniel’s prayer while he was praying.

Daniel’s final vision gives further insight into the great spiritual battle between God’s people and those who want to destroy them (Daniel 10:
1-2). Daniel’s vision revealed trials and tribulation in the years to come.

As Daniel continued in prayer, he saw a glorious appearance of someone. He then was afraid and fell on his face to the ground. But the angel touched him and he stood on his feet (Daniel 10:
9-12).

[God sent a messenger to Daniel, but a powerful spiritual being (“the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia”) detained the messenger for three weeks. Daniel faithfully continued praying and fasting, and God’s messenger eventually arrived.]

Michael, a powerful archangel of God, came to help the other angel, and the prayers of Daniel were no longer hindered. (Daniel 10:
12-13). Answers to our prayers may be hindered by unseen obstacles, and not necessarily because of our sin.

[Don’t expect God’s answers to come too easily or too quickly. Prayer may be challenged by evil forces. Jesus taught us to pray fervently and earnestly (Luke 18:
1-8). Look for God to answer at the right time.]

When waiting on God, continue to trust him and allow your eyes and heart to stay on him until your prayers are answered. Sometimes God himself delays certain prayers until the person who sent them is with him in heaven.

That delayed prayer could be a sickness, a miracle, or anything we lay before his throne. God always can be trusted when his answer is no. David prayed and fasted for his child to be well, but God’s answer was no, and God took the child to heaven.

I cannot answer the question always as to why God delays or says no to us. However, God still sets us free and born-again believers will always receive the ultimate healing when we live with Jesus in eternity.

God can, and still does bring miracles and healing to those who put their faith in him. When we are hurt, he brings his gentle touch. He gives us peace when we are troubled, and strength when we are weak.

When you are experiencing pain, anguish, anxiety, or exhaustion, you should still seek God whether his answer is yes or no. (1 Samuel 16:1). Always cry out to God and ask for a fresh touch of his love.

God can still refresh our spirit even if he doesn’t heal us. How many disabled people do you know? Have you ever met those who love Jesus, and continue to serve him, even though he has chosen not to heal them?

I have met many individuals who are handicapped. I once pastored a dear friend of mine who is in a wheelchair and cannot speak hardly at all. One Sunday I was asked, with others, to pray for his healing.

God had decided now was not the time. God’s timing, ways, and thoughts are so far above our limited timing, ways, and thoughts, that its unattainable. Isaiah 55:
8-11). We must continue to trust our heavenly Father that he knows what’s best.

life. He will sacrifice his own desires and place them under hers.

Ultimately, I know my friend will be leaping and praising God in glory for all eternity, once he is in the presence of his Lord and Savior. I remember telling him, sometimes God knows if he heals us, we may act like the nine lepers.

These were nine individuals that basically told Jesus in their actions of not returning and saying thank you, “Thanks, but no thanks, we got this!” after he had healed them. (Luke 17:
11-19).

God knows us better than we know ourselves. He also can see into the future of our lives. I also had another friend who was waiting for God to open his blind eyes. He loves Jesus with all his heart. But God’s answer on this side of grace was no.

He continues to love Jesus, because he rejoiced that Jesus would be the first set of eyes he gets to see when he stands and kneels before him. What a magnificent Savior we serve!

He has blessed us with his presence even when we may be limited physically. God is always right on time. “God is good all the time, all the time, God is good!” There are many people who hate God for their disabilities.

I have met angry people with miserable lives. They blame God for their whole life of sickness and failures. They curse God for delaying a cure, or not receiving their transplant. But they never blame Satan, who is the cause of everything bad that happens to us.

Last words: God never hinders anything in our lives to further hurt us. He loves us with more love than we can embrace. When he delays something, trust that he knows what’s best. The goodness in him is forever on the way.

Here’s something to remember about prayer. It’s just like ordering a package from Amazon or FedEx. Sometimes there may be a delay, but you know the package is in route. Sometimes you may have to examine the contents. (2 Corinthians 13:5).

A) Remember my friends, God immediately hears our prayers and dispatches the answer whether it’s yes, no, or wait. (Psalm 27:14; 84:
10-12; 2 Samuel 5:22-25; 2 Corinthians 12:7-10).

B) watch out for spiritual beings of darkness. They will attempt to block those prayers. The devil does everything to distract us from prayer time. The Bible tells us to pray without ceasing. (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Never allow the devil to move you off of prayer for those you love. Kick him out!

C) Prevail in God: It is possible to prevail in prayer if you are not faint-hearted. Continue to trust God with all your heart. He will not fail you. God has never lost a battle against Satan. Continue to make war on the floor. Sometimes fasting is needed.

When it seems your prayers are not being answered, don’t panic, rest comfortably and know that “God’s on the way, and he’ll shine his light on for you.”

🛐 Here’s a prayer you can pray when something gets in the way. “Heavenly Father, thank you for this message, I needed to hear this today. Lord, thank you for sending your peace that covered all my concerns and worry.

Lord after I’ve examined my own motives, I realize that I can fully place my trust in you until the answer comes. I don’t have to fret any longer about the outcome of my circumstances. As I’ve heard it said, “Let go and let God!”

Lord, I’m letting go and places my life and mind in your capable hands. I know you can break every blockage and barrier that Satan tries to throw against my mind. Father, I readily stand and ask your Holy Spirit to fill me.

I stand in the awesome power of your love and majesty. Lord, I place my trust in you, waiting on all your promises that were for me before I was born. While I wait on you, no weapon formed against me can prosper.

Jesus, teach me to walk by faith, not by sight, as I navigate these barriers. May your grace be sufficient for me, and your strength be made perfect in my weakness, in your perfect timing I pray, amen.”

Repost of Pastor Todds Sermon

Good morning, everyone. Welcome to “Try Jesus!” If this is your first time joining us, it’s great to have you with us. I would like to thank all the new members for joining “Try Jesus.” Also welcome those in Iowa, Kansas, Arizona, Idaho and Nevada.

It seems everything slowed down for me this week. Why? I was attacked by that old villain called the common head and body cold. Not the flu, but I was pretty ill last week. Some of the members heard about it. (I thank everyone for praying).

I had just enough strength (praise God!) to put out last week’s message. Those out in the west received it a little earlier. Again, please continue to pray for me that the message of the cross and God’s word would continue to go out to the precious souls who need God’s love.

Let’s pray, “Heavenly Father, thank you for watching over us through the week. As cities and states continue to see the ravages of sin, and moral depravity, through senseless crime and hate, you Lord, have remained faithful in drawing hearts to yourself.

Lord, many today are planning their life’s course without you. It always ends in heartache and failure. But for those who put their lives in your hands, they know you establish their steps.

I pray that we seek you in all things. The wisdom of the world is empty and unfulfilled. Help us today to make decisions based upon your guidance. Help us to seek wisdom from above.

Holy Spirit, draw hearts all over this nation to their only living hope, Jesus, the righteous Savior. I place this message in your hands. We place our hearts and our minds in your hands so that you may direct us into all truth. Thank you, Lord, amen.”

Last week I asked a couple of questions about the times we are living in. They were, “Do you believe we are living in turbulent times? Or do you believe we are living in jubilant times?”

This week I’d like to ask some more “either, or” questions. “Do you believe we are living in times of foolishness or in times of wisdom?” Do you believe our leaders are doing a great job?

Are we following the right leadership? It’s been said over and over again that the definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over again and expecting a different result.

Have you ever done something and knew after you did it, you started to critique and judge yourself harshly and say (sometimes out loud) “Why did I just do that?” Have you ever tried to open a door the wrong way more than once?

No one likes to count how many times they have done something foolish. I don’t know too many people who keep score against themselves. People will sometimes admit that they’ve done something foolish, but will try to excuse it by saying, “I did it, but no one got hurt.”

Usually, the foolish actions that are easily dismissed are the ones that do the most damage. Sometimes people purposely commit foolish actions to gain attention for themselves. They may be suffering from self-esteem issues.

Again, keeping score on how foolish we are leaves us in a deeper emotional hole in which to get out. In sports, when a team or an athlete makes the same errors in a game that leads to a loss, they are told to shower it off or flush it down the drain.

Why? Because to hold on to it means you have considered yourself to fail again and never overcome that obstacle. Everyone at a time in their life has probably said or done something foolish.

The Bible has some words to say about foolishness and just down right being a fool. There are many people who stay trapped in false guilt for things they’ve done in the past that were foolish. Many of you today can be free from guilt.

When we examine ourselves, we do so with the word of God. Just as a physician would take an x-ray to see if you had a small fracture in your hand, we must use the Bible to examine our foolhardy ways to get us to turn in a different direction.

Many great Bible patriarchs got themselves involved in foolish actions that brought sadness and pain. David was just one of those who understood the foolishness of toying with sin. Let’s take a brief look at some of David’s words.

4} “For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me. 5} My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness.” (Psalm 38:4-5 KJV).

“O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee.” (Psalm 69:5-7 KJV). We’ve all heard the words, “Think before you act.” Sometimes we think because we are sinners and do dumb things that we can’t help ourselves.

We think we should mindlessly just dive right in and do it as foolish as we can. But that way of thinking only makes the pain greater. But, like David, we should pray that our foolish mistakes will not cause others to stumble.

Let’s break down some meaning behind foolishness. Many people may think this type of sermon should be for children. “Pastor Todd, aren’t children always caught in foolish actions?” Yes, children can be foolish in many ways.

But children, typically are acting things out in ways they may not understand. Many times, they are mimicking something they heard or saw someone else doing (1 Corinthians 13:11).

It doesn’t mean we excuse their behavior. We give them corrective guidelines and put boundaries in their lives that we help them make mature choices as they grow.

Foolishness is lacking sense, good judgment, or discretion. It is simply not using one’s God-given brain to make smart decisions. It can range from a momentary lapse to a lifetime of thoughtlessness.

The ultimate act of foolishness is ignoring God. Do you think our nation ignores God when it comes to sin and perversion in our society? People who neglect to stay close to God not only stumble through life but have no hope for a future in eternity either.

The best resource to combat foolishness in our leaders is God’s word. His word gives us wisdom and guidance. In
2023, those who claim there is no God, and mock believers, are themselves called “fools.”

Many of you may have friends and family members in your community that have said some foolish things about Christianity and about God. They may have demonstrated foolishly their disdain for the Bible.

Jesus told us we don’t have to defend God by using hurtful language against those who verbally attack him. (Matthew 5:
23-24; 1 John 4:20). Our attitudes toward others reflect our attitudes about our relationship with God.

God has clearly defined what a person who doesn’t believe in him is.
“The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.” (Psalm 14:1; 53:1; KJV).

[A fool is not someone who is stupid and uneducated, but rather a person who rejects God. By rejecting God, the fool rejects the one who made the moral and spiritual laws that make life just and good.]

When the mind closes out God, the thoughts are open to all kinds of evil and darkness to spread. A fool is indeed corrupt and evil because light cannot penetrate the minds door that they willingly shut (Romans 1:
18-32; 3:10-12).

Jesus even condemned those who were considered his disciples for their doubts and foolish thoughts. Churches must continue to place the Bible above all retreats and programs to avoid spreading spiritual dryness and weakness through the congregation.

25} “Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: 26} Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?” (Luke 24:25-26 KJV).

“And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.” (Luke 24:27 KJV). Jesus reintroduced these disciples to the Old Testament.

Jesus is the thread woven through all the Scriptures, the central theme that binds them together. Feeding your church the word keeps the foolish thoughts out. (Genesis 3:15; Isaiah 53:
1-10; Zechariah 12:10; Malachi 3:1).

[Jesus turned worldly values and aspirations upside down. The world has not changed its values. The Suffering Servant is no more popular to the world than he was 2,
000 years ago.]

Fools don’t believe in God, his ways or his word. They see the footprints and fingerprints of the creator but deny he is there. (Jeremiah 5:4; 21; Psalm 94:
7-8; Proverbs 12:15; 14:8; 15:14; 28:26).

Fools ignore God, neglect God, or make up their own minds about who God is and what he is like. Fools think they are in control of their lives and their future; therefore, they don’t listen to advice. Have you ever taken wrong advice?

Fools place their trust in the wrong people. Fools who trust in other fools don’t have a promising future. Fools don’t believe the truth, while the wise crave it. Fools don’t plan for the future; they live only for the moment.

Solomon had a lot to say about foolish living. After the lifestyle he lived, he understood it was all vanity. Later in his relationships Solomon made some rash decisions that left him empty. (Ecclesiastes 1:
1-8).

Without God to fill the life the fullness of your life is filled but with F-o-o-l from Satan’s mind vault and not f-u-l-l of the Holy Spirits mind set. (2 Corinthians 4;3,4; Philippians 2:5; Romans 12:1,2).

Only the pursuit of a relationship with God brings real satisfaction because only through him can you understand reality. Everything outside of God is Empty. Futile. Hollow. Nothing.

Foolishness in the heart keeps you grasping for things in the dark. Foolish leaders lose perspective of right and wrong, truth and falsehood. They call evil good and good evil.

A foolish leader has no anchor of absolute truth in God, and therefore drifts through life following sinful whims. They crave power, so doing foolish things means nothing to them.

Fools disobey God’s word and rebel against it. They reject God’s good blessings in search of something else and bring suffering on themselves. Fools act thoughtlessly about themselves and others, with no regard for the future.

Have you ever been around people who are angry all the time? Their anger causes them to foolishly say things that causes those in the home to go to their separate boxing corners. Foolishness is harmful to relationships and can tear a family apart (Ecclesiastes 7:9; 10:12).

This was the case with Job’s wife. Instead of seeking God with her husband, she allowed foolish thoughts to fill her mind, which came out this way,
9} “Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.

10} But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.” (Job 2:
9-10 KJV).

You see my friends, foolish thoughts expressed verbally can possibly be carried out with hurtful actions. Jesus told us, out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth shall speak. (Matthew 12:34-37).

Jesus reminds us that what we say reveals what is in our hearts. You can’t solve your heart problem, however, just by cleaning up your speech. Job’s wife was not considering God’s highest interest by her advice.

Only the Holy Spirit can renew and reeducate the foolish mind. (2 Corinthians 10:
3-5; 1 Corinthians 2:16; Philippians 2:3-5; Romans 12:1-2). In any marriage and relationship, it’s always

important to stop and pray when negative erupt

Always pray and ask God to place a watch over the door of your lips (heart). Sound wisdom, love, and care for others feelings can help defeat foolish squabbles in your home. Prayer is the firewall to put out foolish arguments in your home.

Those who excuse foolish actions are themselves ensnared in the foolishness. The natural mind (unbelieving-mind) cannot except the wisdom that comes from above. People who don’t have a relationship with Jesus are spiritually bankrupt.

“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” (1 Corinthians 2:14 KJV).

Until unbelievers come to know Jesus, they cannot grasp the concept or understand that God’s Spirit lives in believers. The gospel message of the cross seems silly to them.

Just as a tone-deaf person cannot appreciate fine music, those who reject Christ cannot understand God’s Spirit. This is why Jesus uses us to breakdown that wall of foolishness that Satan uses to keep them in the dark.

When it comes to knowing the truth about God, there is no such thing as a foolish or silly question. My mother would always encourage me to never sit quietly in class when I was confused about the curriculum being taught.

True authentic born-again believers must be ready to give genuine answers of truth covered in love. Even stern answers can breakthrough the foolish hard heart when the Holy Spirit sees a person’s heart in seeking truth. (1 Peter 3:
15-16; John 8:32-36).

Have you ever noticed when foolish talk happens, confusion begins to take control. Foolishness left unchecked is easily repeated and grows quickly. (Proverbs 26:11). Many times, the fool hearted person stops when shame comes. (Proverbs 3:35; 22:3).

Foolishness leads to complacency about God, and ultimately to destruction. Christians are told to avoid foolish discussions that only generate strife. Have you ever talked with someone, knowing they were just looking for an argument?

How did you defuse the conversation? Did you find yourself falling into the trap of yelling, which solved nothing? Please read these verses aloud to your spirit. (Proverbs 20:3; 1 Timothy 6:3-5; 2 Timothy 2:23-26; Titus 3:9-11; Ephesians 5:3-8).

The Bible tells us to be careful about hanging out with individuals who profess to know Jesus, but their foolish ways, speech, and conduct portrays something else. (1 Corinthians 5:9-13; 2 Corinthians 6:14-18).

Some Christians are deceived and fall into sinful traps because they think they have to go and do what their unbelieving friends are doing in order to introduce them to Jesus. You should never lower your godly standard of living to win someone into the Kingdom of God.

Jesus never committed sins to win sinners into his Kingdom. If a friend of yours is hooked on Cocaine, (and you’ve never done it), you don’t have to do drugs to see what your friend is going through. You simply share Jesus with them.

[Foolish speech and actions can lead to conflict and dissension. When you shoot sharp words at others, expect them to shoot back at you. This only escalates conflict. Foolish speech includes ridicule of others.]

Foolish people make fun of things that could help them and the people who love them most. Foolish speech invites trouble because it can anger and offend others. Our nation is involved in some foolish decisions that anger the masses.

Before we close for the day, let’s look at how we can remedy those blunders of foolishness we keep making. God always give us a way out. (1 Corinthians 10:12-13). ☆ Learn to use wise judgment. Read the word of God every day. (Proverbs 9:6).

Wise people walk with God while fools wander away from him. When you walk with God, his words help you become wise (Proverbs 1:7). ☆ Honor and respect God. Acknowledge the Lord’s ultimate power and authority over all things.

☆ Listen and obey God’s word. (Matthew 7:
24-27). Wise people understand their relationship to God. Remember that God is the only source of all wisdom. Man’s earthly wisdom always ends up in ruins. Check the history.

Stop fooling yourself. (1 Corinthians 1:23-31; 3:18-20; Matthew 23:25-28). You must use the Bible next to the world’s I.Q. Apply God’s standard of wisdom, not the worlds. Make sure you use the right measuring stick for wisdom and foolishness.

☆ Be concerned about your inward spirit (The real you). (Matthew 12:
35-36; 23:23-24). Stay concerned about your inner spirit as opposed to your external religious appearance. Who you are inside is more important than how you appear on the outside.

☆ Align your priorities with God’s. (Matthew 6:19; 33; Ecclesiastes 12:
13-14; Deuteronomy 6:4-9; 1 John 4:1-617-21). A wise person learns from instruction. It’s important to set boundaries on yourself.

☆ Stay alert. Be alert to God’s work in your life and opportunities to serve him. Then you will be ready as his disciple to go out and let his light shine before all men. (Matthew 5:
13-16; 13:35-36; 25:1-13; Luke 12:35-36).

[Paul declared that no amount of human knowledge can replace or bypass Christ’s work on the cross. If it could, Christ would be accessible only to the intellectually gifted and well educated, and not to ordinary people like you and me.]

The church, during these days, when complacency can easily set in, should stay aware of how foolishness can impact the spirituality inside. Some churches allow all manner of horseplay and fun that sometimes crosses the spiritual line.

There’s a time for fun, and a time for battle. God is the definition of wisdom. His wise plan was to send his Son Jesus to save people from their sin and re-establish their relationship with himself. Christianity is wise because it embraces the plan of the creator of all wisdom.

🗣📢 Last words: There are many vices humans attach themselves too on a regular basis. We grasp on to all the world gives us. We are like sponges waiting to soak anything our minds will accommodate. Don’t think so?

Look at how young lives today are being verbally abused by all the social media platforms. There are young people doing death defying things like taking selfie’s while standing near cliffs.

Our young people are being pummeled by Satan’s blinding influence. As the holidays roll around, there’s more stuff the enemy uses to keep them away from hearing about Jesus. Today, Satan offers young people the world, the climate, and his stuff.

His holiday, “April Fools” has many of them duped, hoodwinked, and headed for a hard fall. This includes adults. On April Fool’s Day, many have a lot of fun pulling pranks and setting their friends up with jokes.

But Christ had some strong things to say about being a fool. He taught that anyone who held on to his life on earth would eventually lose it for eternity.

Those who chose to call their own shots, do their own thing, and control their own lives were actually fools; while those who gave their hearts to Christ were making the wisest decision they’d ever make.

Jesus told us he’s the Way, the Truth, and the Life. If we truly believe that and follow him, we’re wise. If we allow others to deceive us with vain words and shallow philosophies, we’re foolish.

Those who don’t know Jesus Christ personally will say you’re a fool for trusting a God you can’t see. But to be a “fool” for Christ is actually an extremely intelligent decision. To deny the factual truth of the death and resurrection of Jesus is foolish and empty-headed.

Paul spoke of being a fool for Christ. (1 Corinthians 2:
1-5; 4:9-13). David’s wife thought he looked foolish because he danced for the Lord. (2 Samuel 6:16-23). This attitude on her part backfired. She never could have children.

I used to get called Jesus freak and some other names in a jokingly manner. I always took it as a compliment to the company I was with, “Jesus my Savoir.” Remember my friends, The wisdom of God is far superior to any earthly philosophy (Colossians 2:2–3).

If we truly believe that and follow him, we’re wise. If we allow others to deceive us with vain words and shallow philosophies, we’re foolish. You can look stupid in the eyes of the world and be a fool for Jesus. Or you can embrace your culture and its beliefs and be a fool for eternity.

A wise person chooses the right road; a fool takes the wrong one. The hearts of the wise lead them to do right, and the hearts of the foolish lead them to do evil. The wise not only believe there is a God but also strive to please him.

Today’s message certainly starts with me. That old statement about skeletons in the closet has my name on it. I’ve blown it many times in my life. But thanks be to God of his throwing our sins away in his sea of forgetfulness.

So, have you stumbled? Failed? Fallen on your face? Messed up over and over? The key is not staying where you are.
Get up! Please read and memorize these verses. (Proverbs 24:16; Psalm 37:24).

Remember, my friends, there were no sinless Bible heroes except Jesus. Even the great heroes of the Bible had moments of mistakes, missteps, and miserable failure. But they didn’t give up.

If you did something foolish, don’t wallow in it like quicksand, get back on your feet, dust yourself off, and go forward for seeking Jesus. He’s the only source of life-giving wisdom. “Don’t be a fool on any day, especially in eternity.”

🛐 Here’s a prayer you can pray to stop being foolish. “Heavenly Father, I thank you for today’s serious message about being foolish while you hung on that cross.

Lord, I acknowledge after seeing and hearing this message, that it is only through you that I can obtain true wisdom. You are the source of all knowledge, and apart from you there is no truth.

I can only gain wisdom by studying and trusting your word. I know when I try to do things in my own strength, it can only lead to disappointment and failure. Forgive me Lord, that sometimes, in foolishness, I still try to do things my own way.

Father, direct me to have complete dependence on you each day for your wisdom and direction. Teach me to love your righteous instruction even through times of discipline.

Allow me not to see it as a hinderance, but rather as an opportunity to learn and grow. Help me to put away those childish attitudes. As I read your word (The Bible), help me to separate success and foolishness.

Lord, help me to study your word. Help me enjoy quiet times of reading and acting on the instructions that you lay out. Direct me Holy Spirit to be nourished daily from the word so that I can have the greatest sense of order in my life.

Thank you Lord, for bringing wisdom and removing the folly in my life, in the name of my precious Savior, Amen.

Repost of Pastor Todd Boxely Sermon of from Try Jesus Website (tj.com)

Good morning, everyone. Welcome to “Try Jesus!” If this is your first time joining us, it’s great to have you with us. I would like to thank all the new members for joining “Try Jesus.” Also welcome those in New Hampshire, Maryland, Arizona, New Jersey, Oregon, and Iowa this week.

“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6 KJV). God loves to make his people new (2 Corinthians 5:17; Ezekiel 36:26,26; Revelation 21:5).

Have times for you changed for the better or the worse? Many people are wondering, “What’s happening to society?” “Do you believe we are headed in the right direction?” “Have parents lost their children to worldly manipulation?”

Just as a ship can change course to avoid damaging tumultuous waves, people can change course of sinful destructive behaviors. It’s just a matter of being sick and tired of the pain that it brings.

Let’s pray, “Heavenly Father, we thank you for another day of your undeniable love towards us. We thank you for being faithful to provide all our need, even when we fail to recognize it.

This morning, Lord, we take notice of your grace and mercy, and thank you for wanting to draw us closer to your love. Please impact those lives who have the invitation to “TRY JESUS.”

Open our lives and purpose with your truth. Open our eyes today to see the opportunities around us to live for you and to grow in your blessings and favor.

Bless and unite hearts for your Kingdom. May your living anointed word draw broken hearts to be free, in Jesus, name, amen.”

I believe today’s message will speak to every heart. Why? Because in some ways, everyone has had to involve themselves in this situation. What do I mean?

Well, whether you live by yourself or whether you live in a large family, you have had one of those round table discussions to get to the bottom of the truth.

Notice, I said, “Get to the bottom of the truth.” Does truth live at the bottom of your family disagreement? Sometimes family members have to be like professional detectives to uncover family hardships that divide the home.

Truth can always rise to the surface if you’re willing to press and dig to bring it to the light. Getting to the bottom of something means you’re just trying to discover the truth about a situation. You want the true reason for all the chaos in the home.

Every home in this nation has had some since of discussion that involved undercovering facts about what exactly happened. Because you know the facts can only be revealed through an investigation.

Sometimes, to find out the truth relating to marriage, children, finances, education, employment, and even our pets, those words can be heard throughout the whole house, “What happened here!?” I find it fascinating to find out how couples will survive after playing “Sherlock Holmes” against each other.

Sometimes, digging up more dirt, leaves you with, well, “more dirt.” Sometimes you have to discard the old dirt, you never should have in the first place, to get to the new dirt.

Sometimes two people who say they love each never get to experience it because they have all this dirt between each other, and they keep throwing it in each other’s face.

Archeologist will dig things out of the bottom to find out the truth about the way of life and make estimates about how advanced a culture was. But sometimes individuals can dig past key facts that might add a valuable piece to the truth they are looking for.

Many families will leave no stone uncovered to find out the crazy situations that have unfolded in their homes. Some will play the role of Law and Order, Columbo, Perry Mason, CSI, etc. Some family members will even play the role of Police Squad with disastrous unsolved results.

But (in my opinion) the worst thing family members can do when trying to keep the house from being divided is to bring in a biased investigator, like Uncle Bob, or Grandma Lucy. Why? Because family members can sometimes bring a slight slant to the investigation into the truth.

And if you’re not careful, your whole household might end up sliding over the cliff of marital or relationship failure. That’s why nepotism can be harmful in figuring out family squabbles.

Yes, there can be times when wisdom can come from a family outsider, but that sound advice must be covered in neutrality to bring about peace, not favoritism.

Did you know that there are families that have actually taken their unresolved heated disagreements to the court system? Some of the most brutal, most bitter cases in our court system can come from the family court system.

Whether it involves alimony, child support, property disputes, and other family issues, the emotions can bring out the worst in everyone involved. Some of you have experienced this heartache.

Many people just want corrective justice. Meaning, they want someone to take up their case because they feel they have not been heard and they do not know how to get justice from things they consider unfair.

Many people feel we have the best judicial system in the world. Others feel there are major flaws in our system. But if we look at God’s system of justice, we see it is far superior to the worldly system we have today.

In God’s system of justice, your voice matters to him above all earthly endeavors. With our justice system focused on all manner of laws and programs that do very little to help the whole of a person, God’s system always involves righteousness and the heart.

If you have a Bible nearby, let’s look at a few ways how God’s system of justice and fairness work from his Kingdom. When Moses brought the people out of Egypt to Mount Sinai, his father-in-law Jethro came out to visit him.

This meeting ended up helping Moses because Moses’ life was like that old phrase “all work and no play made Jack a dull boy.” This old proverb perfectly fit Moses because without time off from judging the people, Moses became both bored and boring (Exodus 18:13-16).

Moses’ heart was in the right place, because he cared about the people, but Moses was one man among a nation of people. He also had a wife and two sons to attend too. Moses was spending so much time and energy hearing the Hebrews’ complaints that he could not get to other important work.

Jethro provided Moses with sound wisdom and advice to alleviate this demanding work. Jethro suggested that Moses delegate most of this work to others and focus his efforts on jobs only he could do.

[Delegation relieved Moses’ stress and improved the quality of governance. It helped prepare the Israelites for the system of government that would later be set up in Canaan.]

Imagine hearing cases all day long. From trivial silly cases to the more complex cases, it can wear you out mentally and physically. Some of you come home to be a judge in your house every day.

From who spilled the paint, to who let the dog out, to who forgot to lock the door, to who scratched the car, there may be cases inside your home and outside your home that need solved so peace can remain in your home.

Jethro told Moses these words of wisdom.
17} “And Moses’ father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good.

18} Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone.

19} Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God:

20} And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do.” (Exodus 18:17-20 KJV).

Jethro knew the humongous burdens this placed upon the shoulders of Moses. He suggested Moses incorporate the help of men who could judge the crowd consisting of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties, and rulers of tens.

These were not just any men picked out of names randomly in a hat. Jethro told Moses God would be with him. So, these men had to qualify under God’s standard of laws, ordinances and justice.

These were men who would commit themselves to God’s righteousness.
“Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness… (Exodus 18:21).

Moses would handle the most difficult and serious cases and would delegate the lesser cases to these men. God never wants us to bear burdens that weigh us down mentally and spiritually. (Galatians 6:2).

The body of Christ, the church, functions only when the members work together for the common good of sharing burdens together. We should always be ready to offer ourselves filled with love for one another (John 13:34,35).

In our government systems today it seems we have lost what God has intended for us. Do the laws of God still matter in America? Do we shrug our shoulders at his Commandments and statutes today?

I’ve heard many voices say we have a broken system in many places. But when both sides come to the table, they never come to an agreement on how to fix the issues. Has the word of God been implemented?

Doesn’t the Bible tell us these words,
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” (James 1:5 KJV). What has kept leaders from being agreeable to accomplish a goal that benefits its people?

Has so much power blinded both sides that all they do each day is come out swinging, slinging mud at each other? Each day represents another round of their fight against each other. If they would only seek out God instead of votes.

Moses listened and followed all that Jethro had told him because Jethro was giving him sound wisdom from God. Think about every burden in the Bible that affected the people.

Whether it was famine, sickness, laws, land, marriage, or children, when people consulted God, the problem of pain and suffering was alleviated.

Why do you suppose his word tells us this;
33} Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known. 34} Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. (Proverbs 14:33-34 KJV).

Did you know that even criminals that break the law understand that when their own turf (areas) are not even safe they begin to endure hardship. Another area of concern is the affluent and those with an abundance of wealth.

When sin, degradation, and crime come to their walls and locked gates, then the shouting for change will be heard. Without wisdom from God, our leaders will continue to walk in gross darkness. (Look at the rest of James 1:6-8).

The word that best describes leaders today is unstable. The Greek word (akatastatos) simply means inconstant, restless. It’s like having one leg on your dinner table wobbly than the others. All the good, delectable things that sit above that wobbly leg are in danger of falling.

[When leaders agendas are more about power and self, there loyalty to God Almighty may be divided due to blind loyalties. Divided loyalty leaves a person as unsettled as restless waves.

Such a person treats God’s word like a human source (religion) without power from the Holy Spirit. He or she vacillates between allegiance to subjective feelings, the world’s ideas, and God’s commands.]

People should know that God is still living and is in control of the affairs of every nation. Turning to God in times of despair is critical for any nation. The United States must align its desires with his purposes.

The system of governance (God’s Commandments) that Israel had set up in Canaan allowed for them to respect each other. It involved loving one’s neighbor as oneself and is the core pillar of the system of self-governance.

God is setting all this up in order to maximize benefit for his people. The book of Joshua tells that after the people conquered the land, the land was divided among the tribes. God was still the source of all that Israel needed.

The word of God concerning our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, is that he is our all in all when we come to him for justice. Humanist will always form some type of fleshly bias when it comes between God and his purpose for our lives (Ephesians 1:22,23; Corinthians 15:27,28).

Jesus is the head of the church. The church runs and functions through the Godhead. Jesus fills the church with his gifts and blessings. The church should be the full expression of Christ and fulfill his mission before he

Christians (true born-again believers) serve a God who has given us instruction on how his church is to be run. The church is his body, of which he is the Savior (Ephesians 5:23). Jesus’ relationship with the church is very close and loving. (Ephesians 5:25).

Because Jesus is the head of the church we can go to him at any time with our prayers, concerns, and all things pertaining to justice. One such cry of wanting justice was told in a parable by Jesus concerning a widow.

Please read the following verses aloud to yourself, or with the group you have gathered with.

1} “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

2} Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:

3} And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.

4} And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;

5} Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.” (Luke 18:1-5 KJV).

Let’s look at these 5 verses a little closer. Jesus used the analogy of the feeble court system with the perfect justice that comes from God through prayer. Of course, God is the judge of all the earth. (Genesis 18:25; Isaiah 33:22; Psalm 96:13).

Verse one points out the fact that if you want your case heard, you must go to the judge. It says that “that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.” Always praying means being consistent and persistent in prayer.

To persist in prayer and not give up does not mean to subject oneself to endless repetition. Many of you have heard the phrase, “they’re just talking to hear themselves talk.”

Some religious people think the longer they pray, the more they’ll be heard. I used to tell people in church, “If you’re not praying, your fainting, and if your praying, you’re not fainting.”

The key is to make sure you bring your heart with you when you go to pray. Prayer and faith go together. They are like a hand in a glove. If you don’t bring your heart with you to pray, you’ll just be making noise. (1 Corinthians 13:1; James 1:
6-8; Hebrews 11:6).

The Greek word faint (ekkakeō) means to be weak. To fail in the heart. To be utterly spiritless, to be wearied out, exhausted. The Bible says the Antichrist spirit is coming to wear out the saints. (Daniel 7:25).

Many people in this nation continue to say, “Enough with prayer!” They say it without understanding the cause of all the crime and shootings. They think it’s the object, but it’s the heart and mind connected to the object that needs love, prayer, and help.

Not praying only makes things worse. Praying with effectual prayer always avails much (James 5:
13-17). So, when someone tells you prayer doesn’t work, they are blind and deaf spiritually.

I’m living proof prayer works. Christians must continue to keep their requests continually before God as they live for him day by day.

Verse 2 of Luke 18 says there was a judge. We have all kinds of judges in our country in different judicial positions. This particular judge had a personality of not fearing God nor cared about people. Do you think we still have judges with this demeanor today?

In
2023, we still have corrupt judges that disregard truth and facts. Some will degrade the profession, causing people to lose hope in the system. In OT times, the prophets pronounced God’s judgments on such people for unjust practices (Isaiah 28:7,8;14,15).

Judges should look back at the old black and white television days when you would hear a judge say, “Do you solemnly swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God?”

Verse 3 and 4 of Luke 18 points out this judge had a specific case involving a woman. Let’s take a little pause just to highlight this picture.

Better still, how many woman out there have ever had to prove your intellectual intelligence to a car mechanic who thought he could take advantage of you just because you were a woman?

[In biblical days widows and orphans were among the most vulnerable of all God’s people. Both Old Testament prophets and New Testament apostles insisted that these people be properly cared for.

The Hebrew law code is noted for its fairness and social responsibility toward the poor. God insisted that the poor and powerless be well treated. When we help those who need support, we are reflecting the love and care God has shown to each of us.]

This judge probably cared even less for this woman based solely on her being female. If he disrespected men, how much more would he treat her.

Of course, our creator, the Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob had already given instructions on how widows should be treated. (Exodus 22:
22-24; Isaiah 1:17; 1 Timothy 5:3; James 1:27).

So, all this woman wants, is to be heard and receive justice against her adversary. Have you ever been tuned out by a spouse, child, or close friends? It can be extremely disrespectful to close your ears or ignore someone who’s just trying to make their case.

Verse 5 of Luke 18 shows what can happen when persistence and perseverance stay in the face of someone and say “Please, just hear me out!”

The Greek word troubleth (parechō, verb) means to hold, as to be in possession. To have hold in necessity. To have (hold) in the hand, in the sense of wearing. To have (hold) possession of the mind. To grab agitating emotions.

It kind of reminds me of how a teenager might feel when the mom or dad has one of those sit down talks about bringing home a bad report card. The teen sees it as troublesome speech, and really doesn’t want to hear it.

Verse 5 also reminds me of a five-year-old who continues to scream, cry, and whine about his mom not giving him the candy in the aisle way at the checkout counter. I have actually witnessed this embarrassing moment.

I can still hear those shrieking words of the mom saying, “Hear, take it!” The mom who gave into this situation will probably regret losing what authority she had left. Wait until that child takes the car keys for the first time (Smile).

This judge didn’t want to hear anymore, so he decided to vindicate her just to get her out of his office. Verse 5 uses the word weary. Here, the Greek word (hupōpiazō) meaning to tease or annoy.

To subdue one’s passions. It can be viewed as beating one’s ears to the point of beating them black and blue. like a boxer who buffets his opponent in the ear.

Once the verbal pressing is over, and demanding justice is awarded, you feel warn out from voicing your facts in our secular court system. Many families have struggled with tears and suffering.

They have spent time, treasure, heartache and sleepless nights on an emotional roller-coaster to find justice for their spouse, child, or grandparents. It seems like vindication is out of your reach.

But God! Oh, my friends, But God! He is greater than any judge on this earth. He is forever tuned in to the cries of his children. Those whose names are written in the book of life, constantly have God’s ear when they cry out “Abba Father!”

You can read it aloud to yourself, if you like.
“14} For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15} For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.” (Romans 8:14,15; Galatians 4:6 KJV).

Please keep in mind, that only a true child of God can receive this from his standing Savior, judge, and advocate. (Romans 8:9-11). When someone is your dad or guardian, you can refer to them as “daddy.”

To the body of Christ, God is our daddy. He tells us to knock, seek, and we will find (Matthew 7:
7-11). What do you need from your heavenly Father? What do you hope for? Do you need peace, rest, assurance, joy, healing, help for a family member on drugs? encouragement, real love, fulfillment?

[Jesus tells us to persist in prayer. The Bible instructs us to pray without ceasing. (1 Thessalonians 5:
16-18). People often give up after a few halfhearted efforts to pray and then conclude that God doesn’t listen. But communicating with God in prayer takes faith, focus, and follow-through.]

Don’t give up in your efforts to seek God. Continue to ask him for more knowledge, patience, wisdom, love, and understanding. He will give these things to you.

The more you talk to him, the more you will be able to recognize his voice when he speaks to you. Regular times of prayer and Bible reading will lead to God’s transforming power in your life.

🗣📢 Last words: When you go to God, remember, he is your supreme Judge. His having omnipotence and omniscience about you help in you surrendering your life’s case to him. Just as an earthly person has their attorney-client privilege, you have Jesus as your advocate (1Timothy 2:3-6; John 1:12).

Today, you can count on God to fill you with wisdom. He will literally bathe you in sound judgement (James 1:5). Peace is established on top of wisdom. Your home can have these virtues today. Put these in practice.

A) It is practical. It’s that simple. God’s wisdom relates to your life even during the most trying times. It is not isolated from suffering and trials, but it gives us resources to overcome them.

An intelligent person may have profound ideas, but a wise person puts profound ideas to use in order to choose the best course of action (Proverbs 1:5; 4:7; 9:9).

B) It is divine. God’s wisdom goes beyond common sense. Common sense does not help us react joyfully in the middle of adversity. God’s wisdom begins with respect for him.

It leads us to follow his direction and increases our ability to tell right from wrong. If you’re searching for peace, hang around people who are peaceful. True wisdom can be found through integrity and character (James 3:
13-18).

C) It is Christlike. When we ask for wisdom, we are ultimately asking to be more like Jesus. The Bible identifies Christ as the wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:24,25; 2:
1-7).

Whenever we need wisdom, we can pray to God, and he will generously supply what we need. Christians don’t have to grope around in the dark, hoping to stumble upon answers (Psalm 32:8,9; Isaiah 30:21).

Have you ever grown tired of praying for something or someone? Paul said that believers should never stop praying. God always hears us and always answers. He is sovereign and has a plan. Sometimes he answers us with a yes or no, but often he tells us to wait.

But God commands us to never stop praying. Such an attitude is built upon acknowledging our dependence on God, realizing his presence within us, and determining to obey him fully.

God is waiting for the heart of this nation to turn back to him.

📕 Here’s some more spiritual muscle to keep you from giving up. Keep going to the JUDGE of all judges. (Philippians 3:14; 4:13; 1 John 5:4; Joshua 1:8,9; Deuteronomy 31:6; Ephesians 6:18; Galatians 6:8,9; Romans 8:25-28; Isaiah 41:10; Hebrews 11:6; Proverbs 3:5,6; Matthew 11:28-30).

🛐 Here’s a prayer you can pray to stay strong in the Lord’s presence and persistent during chaos. “Heavenly Father, thank you for showing me today that I can bring all my frustration, pain, anger, sadness, and disappointments to you.

Your word tells me your court is the highest in the earth. I know that I can cast all my burdens on you because you’ve told me my soul can have rest in you.

Lord, as I continue to pray strengthen me to wait and see your spiritual fruit take place around me. I know I can do nothing apart from you. My home is filled with tears and suffering.

I will continue to pray because I know you will fill the empty void with peace that passes all understanding. Thank you for being my advocate and mediator. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

“If you would like to know Jesus as your Savior, please read the drop-down page entitled “How to know Jesus.”

*Just a reminder: The message of the cross (the gospel, the good news) sounds foolish to those who don’t believe it. His resurrection demonstrated his power over death. This sounds so simple that many people won’t accept it.

They try other ways to obtain eternal life. The people who may seem foolish for simply accepting Jesus’ offer are actually the wisest of all because they alone will live eternally with God.

“The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.”

God’s Word Heals Us.

“Jehovah Rapha and your Double Edged Sword!” – Deborah Waldron Fry

I totally was going another way today for my post, but the Holy Spirit interrupted me. There is someone tonight who has been praying for a healing. Either for yourself or another in your life. God is coming to you as Jehovah Rapha, or in the Hebrew: “Yahweh Rapha,” the LORD your Healer. As I researched the Hebrew, it is truly amazing. And this verse was shown to me Proverbs 4:21-22:

“My sons, My daughters, attend to My WORDS; incline your ear unto My sayings. Let them not depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart. For they are LIFE unto those that find them, and HEALTH to all your flesh!”

Pray the Word over yourself and others. Both the written and the Rhema Word. A Rhema word is a prophetic utterance from the Holy Spirit. And the Lord spoke this, His Word is a DOUBLE EDGE SWORD in your mouth to defeat the powers of darkness!

One edge of this sword came into existence when the Word initially proceeded out of God’s mouth. The second edge of this sword was added when the Word of God proceeded out of YOUR mouth! When it comes out of your mouth, it becomes a sharp, “two-edged” or literally, a “two-mouthed” sword.

Sickness and disease come from the enemy. Your Sword cuts it in two and destroys it! Keep swinging, Child of God. Keep speaking the Word over yourself others and do not give up. Declare that “By Jesus stripes, I am healed!” Proclaim it today and watch the Two-edged Sword do miracles! Yahweh Rapha has promised to heal every grievous wound as you believe and so speak!

Today, let the high praises of God be in your mouth, and a two-edged sword in your hand!

(I just looked out my window and it literally looks like swords crossed! Do you know that two swords crossed forms a Cross! Isn’t our Father amazing! See pic in first comment. Our God can even use chem trails to confirm things to us! LOL. And two hours later, I was outside and it is dark but the moon is illuminating those swords still! 😀 )

“Beloved. I am the Way Maker, the Miracle Worker, the promise Keeper. My Word is the same yesterday today and forever! You are My Warrior Bride with a DOUBLE EDGED SWORD in your mouth and in your hand! I shall speak a quickened word to your spirit and then you shall proclaim it through your mouth!

“This is your offensive weapon. My Word is LIFE and HEALTH to every part of you, body, soul, and spirit. Persevere, My Warrior! Take up your Sword! The weapons of your warfare are not carnal, but mighty through your God for the pulling down of strongholds! I have made your MOUTH LIKE A SHARP SWORD; I have hidden you in the Shadow of My Hand. I make you like a polished ARROW; I hide you in My Quiver.

“Now I am releasing you, My Warrior. Yahweh Rapha thunders from Heaven, the Voice of the Most High resounds; sending hailstones and coals of Holy Fire to defeat the enemy. I shoot My Arrows and scatter the foes; I hurl Lightning and rout them! Speak My Word, send My Word like a TWO EDGED SWORD, no sickness, no disease can stand against My Name, YAHWEH RAPHA!

“In My Name, you SHALL heal the sick, for this is who you are! Declare who is Your Healer today! I am the God who heals you! The Son bore your sorrows, wounds, sicknesses, diseases and suffering, and by His stripes, you are healed! Wield your double edged Sword, Mighty One! Behold, I give you AUTHORITY to tread upon serpents and scorpions and over ALL the power of the enemy, and NOTHING shall by means harm you!”

NIV Version.

“My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body. Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Keep your mouth free of perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.”

Pressed on every side

Good morning, everyone from Pastor Todd. Welcome to “Try Jesus!” If this is your first time joining us, it’s great to have you with us. I would like to thank all the new members for joining “Try Jesus.” Also welcome those in Kentucky, Oregon, Nevada, Indiana, and Missouri.

What a great last week to know that many of you are walking in the freedom and liberty of forgiveness. Being happy without grudges is like walking without crutches after a healed ankle sprain. Continue to walk in the joy of the Lord.

Many of you may have witnessed the eclipse on April 8th. I saw people with chairs out in front of their businesses as I was driving to the grocery store. They were gazing in the sky to witness the moon cross in front of the earth.

Some through eclipse parties, others took off work, and some schools had early dismissals. I wasn’t moved by the hoopla surrounding the event. However, it did make me think about an event called the Ascension.

After Jesus had risen from the dead and was with his disciples, and spoke to them about being baptized by the Holy Spirit. Jesus spoke to them about receiving power to witness in Jerusalem, Samaria, and the world.

After speaking these words he was taken up in the clouds out of their sight. And just like some of you who stared at the eclipse, these disciples kept gazing up in the sky. But unlike the eclipse science gazer’s, these men were met by two men in shining white clothing.

These two men (angels) then said to them,
“Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:11 KJV).

Now that is something to gaze and be excited about! They should have been excited about the news of the Holy Spirit instead of when Israel would be free from Rome. The Kingdom Jesus spoke about was, a spiritual Kingdom.

His Kingdom would be established in the hearts and lives of believers (Luke 17:21). Since then until
2024, God’s presence and power dwell in believers in the person of the Holy Spirit.

The eclipse reminds me of the darkness (sin) we all are born with and the darkness has blocked the Son until repentance removes it. Ok, let’s move on and praise God by welcoming his Son in our midst today! I feel a praise song!

Prayer
🎵 Heavenly Father, there is none like you, no one else can touch my heart like you do, I have searched for all, eternity long, and found, there is none like you.🎵 No eclipse can match the glorious presence of the Lord, our God, Amen?

Let’s believe in God’s presence and power today. “Heavenly Father, thank you for your majestic power. You came to live in the hearts of your people. Father God, we praise you for your love and faithfulness towards your children.

We praise you for being a perfect, holy, trustworthy God that is bigger than all the evil we experience here on earth. We ask that you give us eyes to see when evil is before us, hearts to hate evil and the desire to flee from its presence.

Lord open our understanding of today’s word. Draw hearts to “TRY JESUS” that are surrendered to your Lordship over their lives. May your living word penetrate the hard hearts in attendance today.

Give us a heart of wisdom to hear your voice, and make us strong by your huge favor and grace. Your word continues to be stronger than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). Draw in your audience, In Jesus name, Amen.”

green white philips iron
It seems today, people’s lives are the way I used to press my clothes. Even though I thought I looked fashion ready, I was unkempt all over. Today, people’s lives seem to be pressed from all sides and look worse for the wear. (Photo by Pixabay on Pexels.com)

How many of you have ever wore some clothes that were double wrinkled? I mean they were so wrinkled they looked like one of those beautiful Shar Pei dogs’ faces (Smile). I guess my next question would be, how many of you can use an iron?

I remember a very long time ago, when I was learning to iron for the first time, I thought I was the best one in my family at Ironing clothing. It took me awhile to get past setting up my parents ironing board.

Once I defeated that hurdle, I was ready to go. Pressing my clothes was difficult to start. I couldn’t figure out where the crease should be. Again, I thought I was doing it all correctly until I showed up in high school.

Kids have this focused eyesight of letting you know when something is out of line in your appearance. I found out that the creases in my pants were sideways and not in the front of my pants.

The pleats in my dress pants looked double folded. My shirts were ironed the same way. I looked like the shirts that are pinned to the wall at fashion clothing stores. I thought I was the pressing professional in my home.

There were also times when my mother would notice a smell coming from my pants after I ironed them. I used to the think the hotter the setting and the harder I pressed on them would make them look better.

Boy was I mistaken. Something pressed harder doesn’t equate to looking better. I had shiny glowing marks on my pants. I thought looking in that mirror, I was sharp, cool, and ready to dress to impress. “Uh, No.”

When your clothes smell hot on the school bus kids can smell you out. After all the pressing I received at school, I decided to give up ironing and ask my mom for better assistance (Smile).

After high-school and getting my first job, I decided to take my dress clothes to the dry cleaners and have them professionally pressed, and starched. Some of you can certainly relate to my story.

When you are pressed for time some of you will move that iron so fast across your clothing, you miss all kinds of wrinkles. It’s great that today they make irons that have automatic shut-off capability.

It seems today, people’s lives are the way I used to press my clothes. Even though I thought I looked fashion ready, I was unkempt all over. Today, people’s lives seem to be pressed from all sides and look worse for the wear.

What may be causing them to look so pressed? In today’s society you can pick any topic. Is it inflation? The high cost of shopping? The gas prices. Higher utilities? Spikes in crime? Open boarders? Broken relationships?

Shall I continue? The breakdown of the educational system? Division among many groups? Broken judicial system? Suicidal increases? Did I miss some things? If I did, please call, text, or email me. It just strengthens my point.

Some might say, “My world is beautiful, everything is ok, I don’t see all these things going on.” Ok, maybe your world is gated. But even those who perceive themselves to be living in a utopia world have been pressed.

We have to remember; a fallen world is going to have these things. Please understand, I’m not the barer of 24-7 bad news. I don’t shout every day that the sky is falling, that the world is doomed.

I’m really 100% just the opposite.

Let me ask everyone a question. Do you believe the Bible is a positive book, or a negative book? Be careful with your answer. Try looking at it this way.

Have you heard the words, “Paradise lost, paradise restored?” What about “In the eyes of the beholder?” Let’s look at our Bibles today to breeze through some words that God says are above our ways and our thoughts.

In the beginning, everything that God created, he said it was good. And on the sixth day, God emphasized his own words and said it was very good. (Genesis 1:31-2:1-4). In his creating, his greatest creation was man (human life).

This is also where we find the first press or pressure (temptation) if you will of faithfulness or disobedience. Sometimes the pressing can be a testing period.

My mother tested me to see if I could put up the ironing board and press my own clothes. Many times, she had to step in and show me what I did wrong. Sometimes she set up the board and see if I could do the rest.

Of course my mother warned me about the dangers of the iron. It got very hot and could burn my hands if I mishandled it. Following her instructions would keep me from being hurt by the board or the iron.

God placed two trees in the garden and gave instructions concerning them. So, why would God place a tree in the Garden and then forbid Adam to eat from it? God wanted Adam to obey him, but God gave Adam the freedom to choose. (Genesis 2:16-17).

Please note these instructions were given to Adam before Eve came along. After Eve was given to Adam as his bride, the press started to happen. As a person who played many sports, especially basketball, the full court press was coming to Adam and Eve.

Obviously, Adam failed at recognizing the press that Satan applied against Eve. I’m sure Adam had reiterated to Eve the instructions (spiritual game plan) God had first told to Adam (Genesis 3:2-5).

But later something went wrong. Adam was initially nowhere around when Satan pressed her on God’s commands. Was he at Home Depot buying tools for the garden? Was he himself being pressed by the Home Depot credit department to open an account? (Smile).

[Satan tried to make Eve think that sin is good, pleasant, and desirable. Both good and evil seemed harmless to her. People usually choose wrong things because they have become convinced that those things are good.]

Satan comes with things and places them before our eyes as an enticement to disobey God. He did this with many great patriarchs in the Bible. David, Sampson, Eli’s sons, and many others. He tried it with Jesus and failed.

He will always try to attack and press against our physical senses. Our sins do not always appear ugly to us, and the most pleasant sins are the hardest to avoid. So, prepare yourself for the attractive temptations that show up.

The press of evil will always be against us until Jesus returns. He has given us the only tool we need to defeat Satan’s oppressive wicked devices, his powerful word. (1 Corinthians 10:13; Psalm 119:11).

Christians only stance against the continued onslaught press of the enemy is God’s word and God’s people to help you stand against it. God knew well in advance he would have to sacrifice his only Son to save the creation he loved.

Because humanity was stained with the seed of sin, they gave him the title “Prince of the power of the air.” The devil is his name. He is the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is called the tempter (Ephesians 2:1-3).

Satan rules an evil spiritual kingdom, directing the demons and those who are against Christ and the rule of the Kingdom of God. In 2024, he continues to put on his full press of deception and darkness (2 Corinthians 4:3-4).

Everyday Satan is trying to tempt everyone away from God. But here’s the good news of the gospel. Satan will not be the final victor. In (Genesis 3:14-15) God promises that Satan will be crushed by the woman’s offspring, “The Messiah.”

When Jesus arrived on the scene Satan was still placing people in bondage. John wrote in (1 John 3:8) that he who practices sin (lives in it without repentance) is of the devil.

He then spoke and said for this reason was the Son of God manifested to destroy the works of the devil. This brought a visual divide of who belongs to Satan and who belongs to God. (1 John 3:9-10).

It is the heart of sin that destroys everything. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23 KJV). You see my friends, the world offers you death. Jesus offers hope of living forever in peace.

If you feel overcome and pressed by the endless failures and depression of life, here’s your only answer and relief. Jesus said these words, 28} “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Jesus came to remove the weight of sin, that press and squeezing from the world’s devilish system. I would ask again, as I did earlier in this message; how many of you are weighed down by different pressures?

Many people today are looking for relief from everyday problems. They are searching for peace in any way they can grasp it. They are tired from the weight of the world being on their shoulders.

But they are looking for relief in all the wrong places. Satan offered to Jesus in the wilderness all the things he still offers to us today. (Matthew 4:1-11). Jesus told everyone he is the only one you can unload your burdens on. He is the only way, truth, and life for the broken. (John 10:10; 14:6).

While many people search for what they think is a utopia world, the devil is sending them strong delusion and false hopes of a world soon to be destroyed by the wrath of God. People are trying to fix a world that is decaying from within.

It is the heart of sin that destroys everything. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23 KJV). You see my friends, the world can only offer you death.

If you feel overcome and pressed by the endless failures and depression of life, here’s your only answer and relief. Jesus said these words, 28} “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29} Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30} For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30 KJV).

The word yoke (zugos) means to join. To have a coupling. I see it as the yoke and white of the egg coupled together as it is fried in the skillet. When individuals become followers of Jesus, they still must walk through the world’s press.

Our responsibilities and the effort of staying true to God still weigh us down as we work. So how does the yoke of Jesus make things easier? Well, just like my mother made the load of pressing my clothes for me easier, I took her yoke of instruction, and it made my load light.

[Jesus’ yoke remains easy compared to the crushing alternative of dead-end legalism and self-powered effort. Jesus doesn’t offer a life of luxurious ease. His yoke still implies hard work. He shares the yoke with us.]

His bigger shoulders carry the greater weight when we are pressed down. He has more pulling power to help us. He alleviates those pressures from the world and Satan. There are many people who suffer from all kinds of mental stress.

I’m sure many of you know people, family, friends, or close associates that struggle with physical illness, suicidal thoughts, financial burdens, depression, loneliness, marital and children issues, and other societal issues.

We must remember and look at Jesus as our only and fully complete burden bearer. He did not come to take us out of the world’s decaying hardships, but to come and walk us through it. Like the footprints in the sand picture.

4} “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5} Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6} Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. (Psalm 23:4-6 KJV).

If Jesus had to endure all of the world’s pressures, why shouldn’t we? Just as he did, we are participating in life’s responsibilities. Once you except him as Lord and Savior he becomes your great partner (Mark 3:10; Luke 5:1; Hebrews 13:5).

Then all your struggles, battles, and press, and grimaces can turn into smiles, and your tears and sorrows into songs of joy (Psalm 28:7; 30:5; 118:14; Nehemiah 8:10; Exodus15:2; 2 Samuel 22:33; Isaiah12:2).

When Paul arrived on the scene, and was changed by the power of God’s redemptive love, he well understood what pressing and persecution was all about.

When writing in his epistle to Timothy, he encouraged him to trust in the Lord. Paul further wrote these words to Timothy.
“Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.” (2 Timothy 3:12 KJV).

Paul emphasized that because of the doctrine of Jesus he taught, he would face persecutions and afflictions. But he emphatically stated it was the Lord who delivered him out of them all (2 Timothy 10:17).

Paul was also pressed by the Holy Spirit to testify to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ (Acts 18:5-6). The word pressed (sunechō) in this context means “to hold, or compel. To take hold of the hand.

A great loving example of the Holy Spirit’s loving press would be that of a loving mother who holds her son’s hand as she walks through the department store. Her light press is not to afflict or hurt him.

Paul faced many trials and afflictions while serving his Savior. He knew his trust was not in his own religious abilities, but in God. While his life was pressed even to those who wanted to take his life, Jesus stood by Paul (2 Corinthians 1:7-11; 12:8-10).

The Greek word pressed (kata) is different than the press he felt with the Holy Spirit (sunechō). The word (kata) means to be burdened down. Someone who might distribute intense actions. To be in opposition against something.

Paul could boldly stand and say these powerful words as he was hard-pressed daily.
8} “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;

9} Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; 10} Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.” (2 Corinthians 4:8-10 KJV).

The word troubled simply means to be hard-pressed. But notice Paul’s words after each negative connotation. It is followed by how the power of the Lord’s life lifts our spirit to endure and overcome.

Please stay uplifted and encouraged in your spirit when reading these passages. (Romans 8:35-39; Matthew 10:19-23; 1 Corinthians 10:13; 2 Timothy 2:3; 4:5). If God be for us, who can be against us (Romans 8:31).

Before we close, here are a couple of individuals that put themselves in tight situations that needed God’s deliverance. They are lessons we can learn from the press we saw them go through.

Lot knew what it was like to be pressed upon by evil doers. (Genesis 19:3-9). Lot did himself no favors by lingering around after the angels told him God was going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. (Genesis 19:16).

Sometimes the press we receive from the enemy can be the way we approach sinfulness. Do you rub shoulders with sins that can quickly pull you in and immobilize your Christian values? (Genesis 19:16).

The word lingered (mâhahh) in Lot’s case means he hesitated after hearing instructions. He was reluctant to move his feet. Like feet being in cement. He waited, tarried, delayed, before the angels took him by the hand.

Samson faced pressing evil intentions from Delilah. She pressed him so much that his soul was vexed unto death. I mean this was definitely a full court press to force Samson to speak his whole heart (Judges 16:16:20).

The word pressed (tsûq) has the Hebrew meaning of being compressed in distress and be constrained. To oppress, to put in a straiten position. Delilah had Samson in a spiritual headlock position.

The word vexed (qâtsar) means that Delilah curtailed his emotions. She cut them short and caused him much discomfort and grief. Her eyes kept seeing the “Dolla Dolla bills y’all! Ching, ching!” She was Satan’s pawn and didn’t know it.

Four times Delilah unleashes a verbal attack on Samson in order to subdue him and receive her payment. She broke him down like a house made out of cards. She played the “How can you tell me, I love you game.”

Has anyone ever pushed you to the limit of telling all your life to that person? That’s a bad position to be in. Why? Because they have now gained ultimate control over you. The Bible says a fool utters his whole mind. (Proverbs 29:11).

I’m certainly not applying this to the husband-and-wife relationship. Married couples should always have a round table discussion with Jesus being in the center of their joyful relationship. Communication is a most against evil.

Like our so-called news and media division, not all press is bad press. They certainly make it hard to believe them. Lord, please help them. There is a good press that God delivers to the body of Christ, his children. (Luke 6:38)

🗣📢 Last words: As our nation goes further into depravity, Christians must continue to put on the whole armor of God to withstand the assault of the enemies tactics.

You cannot win the battle by trying to burn the spiritual candle on one end and burn the world’s candle on the other end. You will always get burned. (Acts 19:13-16). Those who are committed soldiers for Christ are battle ready.

Jesus is our General and will lead us to our new home as the press intensifies. He will not abandon us or leave us by the side of the road. When Jesus was raised from the dead, he was victorious over the devil and his power.

He demonstrated his own power even over death. Therefore, Jesus Christ is the permanent ruler of the whole world; the devil is only the temporary ruler of the part of the world that chooses to follow him (John 10:10).

You no longer have to be a worldly wrinkled mess. You can be pressed and smoothed out by the love of God and his living presence. The iron can help us be conformed to his image (I John 3:1-3; Proverbs 27:17; Romans 8:29; Philippians 3:20-21).

You can iron things out in your life today with the right hand of God, who supplies the right kind of heat. God is the potter; you are the clay. Get your life smoothed out today!

🛐 Here’s a prayer you can pray to smooth out your life. “Heavenly Father, thank you for your living words of truth today. Lord, I’m the one this message has been directed towards. My life at times is beyond a wrinkled-up mess.

I cannot seem to unravel all the obstacles that have me stuck and sinking in despair. I’m calling from the depth of my heart, mind, and soul. Please deliver me from within. I want to yield my life into your hands.

My life seems to be falling apart at the seams and I am desperate. Oh Lord, only you can smooth away those treacherous potholes of life the devil has held me in. I don’t know which way to turn, nor do I know what to do.

Jesus, I’m coming to you confessing my need of you in my life, and pray that you will forgive me of my pride in trying to be the god of my own existence. I’m being pressed on all sides with depression and hopelessness.

I know it’s because I have made me the center of my life and not you, and I pray you would help me to surrender my life to your Lordship. I am coming to you in humility of heart to admit that I can do nothing in my own strength.

Lord, teach me how to submit my life to you. Show me how to abide in you day by day. Instruct me how to live-in spirit and truth. Help me Lord, to give control of my life over to you in every way. May your word be the light that guides me.

Thank you Lord, that you have not given up on me. I ask you to teach me your way from this day forward. Fill me with the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Make every crooked path straight, In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

“If you would like to know Jesus as your Savior, Declare to him now. Jesus I have sinned, I repent of my sins, I believe you have paid the price of my sins by dying on the cross, being raised from the dead, and leaving the Holy Spirt to guide those who love you. I ask you to be Lord of my Life. In Jesus Name I pray Amen.

Gathering at the mirage

Good morning, everyone from Pastor Todd Boxley. Welcome to “Try Jesus!” If this is your first time joining us, it’s great to have you with us. I would like to thank all the new members for joining “Try Jesus.” Also welcome those in California, Illinois, Texas, Washington, and Colorado.

What a tremendous two weeks we had discovering the light of God, the bread of life, and the living water. All three we need to survive in this dead lifeless place until we are reunited with our Savior in our real home.

In the natural, while we are here (true born-again believers), we still need sun, food, water, clothing, sleep, and shelter, the bare necessities for survival. God supplies all this to us. What a mighty God we serve!

Let’s welcome the presence of God this morning. “He is our all in all!” Amen? “Heavenly Father, you are Yahweh, Abba, Shammah, Jehovah Jireh, And Jehovah Rapha. You always delight in taking care of your children.

Jesus, Messiah, you have called your redeemed children friends. You have given us today your Holy Spirit. He is your gift from above and constant companion. Lord, we are alive today because you defeated death.

You know when we are lost, Lord. You found us, heaped in our own motivations and confused by worldly principles. You rescued us, defeating death on the cross and rising to sit at the right hand of the Father in heaven.

As we celebrate your life, and focus on you today, we know you are still interceding for us to the Father daily. In your perfect way, you hold the world in balance and our souls in your heart.

You hear every voice, every prayer, every cry, and every shout of praise. Open our hearts and minds to receive your word of life. God, please lead us in Your purpose for our lives.

Let your glory, light, and living water flow from our lives. Feed us your spiritual nourishment. May all who know us feel the love you have for everyone. Lord, save the lost. In your powerful name we pray, Amen.”

Today’s message is to encourage everyone to resuscitate their lives. How so? Well, I would like to start by asking this question, “What’s the oldest thing you have in your home?” “Why do you continue to keep it?”

How many of you know what hoarding is? Well, in its simplest form, hoarding is having a desire to collect items and an inability to discard things that may seem useless, to such a point that the collections cause you stress.

Severe hoarding can impact a person’s health, employment, friendships, and family relationships. People who suffer with this will tell you they are curating and recycling. In their minds eye, these objects are still beautiful and useful.

But are they? I knew one lady who suffered so badly with hoarding, she allowed the hoarding to move her to one room in her house. The other objects had taken over. She had nowhere to put anything else.

When her family came to visit, they realized she needed rescued. But they needed her to see what they were seeing. This later was stuck in the desert, seeing all the mirages she tried to grasp, but were taking her life away.

Did you know, most people think nothing lives in the desert. But there is life. Sometimes you have to look really close to see those things that have adapted to the elements. Some of the tough plants store water in their root stems.

Some animals have salt glands, that allows the secretion of salt without the loss of water. So, this helps them to survive and thrive in the environment where they live. Notice, they rely on what is given to them.

They are not overcrowded by things afforded to them. They are not seeing things that are not there. They are not overcome by the harsh desert. Rattlesnakes, jackrabbits, and many other mammals and reptiles are most active at dawn and dusk.

These animals and reptiles sleep away the hottest hours of the day. They have kept their surroundings free from the adverse conditions of the dangerous desert. Their environment is no difference than ours.

Today, we live on a planet that is full of darkness and has all kinds of spiritual hazards that cause us to become dead looking. Looking at a desert from a distance in the hot sun might cause you to think, “there is absolutely no life here.”

This is how we come into this world. We are grasping after imaginary images that will destroy us. The only way we can survive this entry into this death desert is to do as the animals and reptiles do, cling to what gives us life.

If you are following along in your Bible, let’s begin at the origin of life. We see in the book of Genesis that God is the creator of all life. He is the Creator of all that is (Isaiah 40:28).

For all those unbelievers or skeptics who are tuned in to “TRY JESUS” today because its Easter Sunday, I’m saying that no one created him and that God alone is the creator.

Satan cannot create; he can only pervert what God creates (John 10:10). People cannot truly create because we must start with something that has already been created.

God is also the creator of the first life (breathed into) that ever to walk on this earth. Genesis (1:26-28; 2:7-9). All three persons of the Godhead were involved in the creation of the universe and man. (Genesis 1:2; Acts 17:24; Hebrews 1:2).

Of course, after Adam and Eve’s transgression, it brought death to everything (Genesis 2:16-17). The world and humanity were now doomed to death, “What’s a Holy God going to do?”

Could you picture God pulling his hair out, wringing his hands, biting his nails, walking around confused in heaven? Of course, God is a spirit. But since his Son has a body, do you think he was acting the same way?

Absolutely not! God is full of peace. He doesn’t live in fear or worry. He is always in control. His brilliant plan of redemption was never interrupted after Adam and Eve spread sin throughout creation. God never panicked.

Jesus already had his earthly bags packed. He had his flight destination already to go. God did all that he did for one reason, “Love, genuine love!” Jesus came to take back what the enemy had taken.

I remember some lyrics from a song entitled, 🎵 “I’m going to go into the enemies camp, and take back what he took from me. Jesus is Lord, Jesus is Lord. 🎵 Some things never get old.

Here’s the song lyrics that fit today’s whole message.
🎵 God sent his Son, they called him Jesus, He came to love, heal and forgive; He lived and died, to buy my pardon, An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives.

Because he lives, I can face tomorrow, because he lives, all fear is gone; because I know he holds the future, and life is worth the living just because He lives.
🎵

“Can you sing this song with total trust in your heart that Jesus has your whole life in his hands?” If you believe his life on the throne gives you new life, then you are soon to be with him in glory. But first, let’s look at how we were rescued.

Currently, those who do not have a relationship with Jesus are just like those who walk in the desert without the necessities to survive. They are seeing the tempting mirages of life thinking this will help them.

In the natural, if you were in the desert, you would need these typical things to survive. You would need sufficient food rations and water. You would dress appropriately in light-colored, loose-fitting clothes.

You would probably wear layers of clothing for the cooler temperatures. You would need some kind of headgear. Of course, you would need some kind of shelter. Not to mention sunscreen, and a first aid kit.

Experts would probably give a more detailed explanation of what to take in the desert. But without these help initiatives, you would be a walking dead person. Before long, your bones would lye in the desert.

There are millions and millions of people today who are walking around dead in the desert throughout this nation and the world. This includes the religious. Why the religious? We can get the answers from Jesus himself.

But first let’s look at the book of Ezekiel.  Here in lies the visual picture that I believe God showed me how dead we are without Jesus. Ezekiel was one of God’s great prophets. In (Ezekiel 37:
1-28), God showed Ezekiel a vision of dry bones.

Please read these verses aloud to yourself or to your Bible study group.
3} “And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.

4} Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. 5} Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:

6} And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

7} So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.

8} And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.” (Ezekiel 37:3-8 KJV). The dry bones represented the people’s spiritually dead condition.

These bodies had all they needed to be considered alive and human. They were created by the potter. Jeremiah 18:
1-6; Isaiah 64:8). But the dry bones lacked one thing. They still need the Spirit’s breath.

This also reminds me of the rich young ruler that Jesus spoke to. He had all his proverbial life’s ducks in a row, but Jesus told him this;

21} …”One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

22 And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions. 23} And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!” (Mark 10:21-23 KJV).

You see my friends, holding on to his worldly wealth over God’s commandments left him a dead-man walking. “Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.” (Luke 17:33 KJV).

You see my friends the human life needs more than just fleshly life; it needs the spiritual life it was originally intended for. People die in their sins when they reject Jesus. They are rejecting the only way to be saved.

When Jesus told the Pharisees and Sadducees they would die in their sins, it was because they rejected the only living source to give them life (John 8:
21-24). The vision seen by Ezekiel is about the Jewish nation in captivity.

They were spread out and spiritually dead. Just as God brought life to the dead bones, he would bring life again to his spiritually dead people. Our nation is in the same dilemma in
2024. There are dead people walking around without life.

Jesus is the only source of gaining new life. When people say, “I’m turning over a new leaf in life,” the leaf is still going to die. Jesus told us, what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, but lose his soul (Mark 8:36).

When Jesus confronted the demise of death towards his close friends Mary, Martha, and Lazarus, he knew he had power over death. When Lazarus was sick and died, Jesus allowed this to happen purposely to raise him up.

Please read these next few verses aloud to yourself. Allow faith to rise in your spirit that nothing is impossible with God. 23} “Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.

24} Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
25} Jesus said unto her,I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

26} And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?27} She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.” (John 11:23-27 KJV).

Jesus’ powerful words to Martha would later come to reality. Jesus delayed his coming to show the power he had over death. The love of Jesus is powerfully illustrated in that he showed the same emotions towards those he loved, just as we do.

God is not some far away distance God who does not sympathize with our own feelings (Hebrews 4:15,16). Notice how Jesus words were short and heartfelt when talking to Mary. Please read these loving words aloud.

33} “When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled, 34} And said,Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.

35} Jesus wept. 36} Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him! (John 11:33-36 KJV).38} “Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.

39} Jesus said,Take ye away the stone.Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.

40} Jesus saith unto her,Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?” (John 11:38-40 KJV). Please read (John 11:43-46) aloud to see and realize the power Jesus has over death.

Jesus also raised others to life. Jairus’s daughter (Matthew 9:
18-26; Mark 5:42-43; Luke 8:40-56). And a widow’s son (Luke 7:11-15). It’s important to know that Jesus told his enemies that if they destroyed this temple, he would raise it up. (John 2:19-21).

[Jesus was not talking about the Temple made of stones but about his body. His listeners didn’t realize it. His words would take on meaning for his disciples after his resurrection. Jesus so perfectly fulfilled this prediction became strong proof for his claim to be God.]

For the body of Christ (Authentic born-again believers), the celebration of Easter goes beyond the commercialization of Peter Cottontail, chocolate rabbits, and colored eggs. I understand the holiday.

I realize there are some things that are basic traditions like, cooking lamb or ham and certain breads for Easter. In of themselves there is nothing wrong with adding them to your celebration.

However, there are many people who celebrate Easter, (I prefer to call it Resurrection Day!) that do not associate Easter with the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The resurrection is vital to the whole Christian life.

How so? Well, if the resurrection is a fake and never happen, then Christians should just abandon the rest of scripture. The resurrection is the key to believers spending eternity with Jesus in heaven.

39} “And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

40} And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.” (John 6:39-40 KJV).

Simply put, my friends, if the resurrection story of Jesus is a made-up lie, then we might as well live like the world. Paul said it best. 12} “Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?

13} But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: 14} And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. (1 Corinthians 15:12-14 KJV).

And yet, Paul had more to say. 16} “For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: 17} And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.

18} Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. 19} If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.” (1 Corinthians 15:16-19 KJV).

The word miserable (eleeinos) in the Greek text means to be pitiable. This has the same connotation as someone who is deplorable, woeful, pathetic, mean, vile, despicable. Have you ever pitied someone before?

[If Jesus had not been resurrected from the dead, Christians would not be forgiven for their sins or have any hope of eternal life. If what Christians believe were not true, we would be pitiful because we would be suffering for no purpose.]

I remember the actor “Mr. T” would always use the words, “I pity the fool!” And that’s how those would look at us if Jesus did not rise from the dead. But praise God! We born-again believers do know that Jesus did rise and sits on the right hand of the Father.

Did you know there are some churches and so-called believers who don’t believe Jesus rose from the dead? Some denominations still teach and see Jesus as just a good man, our Savior, but not God, and a prophet.

But Jesus was all that and more. (Colossians 1:
14-20; John 1:1-510-14). Even having the power over his death. 17} “Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.

18} No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.” (John 10:17-18 KJV).

There are too many witnesses to deny the truth about the resurrection. His power over death was displayed just like Ezekiel prophesied over the dead dry bones (Matthew 27:50-53). Notice verse 52 more closely.

It says the bodies of the saints arose. It doesn’t say the unbelievers arose, the atheist arose, the ungodly arose, it doesn’t even say the religious arose. It says the saints (hagios) arose. That is, the sacred, the blameless, the consecrated, those made holy.

Those that deny the resurrection of Jesus in
2024 are false believers and heretics. It’s impossible to be a follower of Jesus and deny the resurrection. When true believers receive Christ, we die to our old life and we are given a new life in Christ.

Please read aloud (Ephesians 2:
1-10, and Romans 6:1-11). Do you see the power difference between those who are walking dead and those who are already raised spiritually (Ephesians 2:6), born-again?

Listen “TRY JESUS” members, before you believed, you were the walking dead. Again, the Bible verse is (John 5:
27-29). Read it aloud. Yes everyone shall be raised, but not everyone’s final destination shall be the same.

You can easily see this in (Revelation 20:
10-15; 21:7-8). Again, so that individuals who are guest for the first time, the evidence is overwhelming that Jesus rose from the dead.

After rising from the dead, he then appeared to Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, Salome, and Joanna. He appeared to Peter, two disciples on the Emmaus Road. He appeared to the disciples, minus Thomas.

Then to all of them. He appeared to the disciples at the sea of Galilee. He appeared to them on a mountain in Galilee. Appeared to over five hundred people. He appeared to his half-brother.

I purposely left out the scriptures where all this took place. Your reading assignment is to find these powerful scriptures. Then you can lock them away in your heart.

Before we close our special Easter message (I prefer to say “Happy Resurrection Day!), it’s important to know that there will be an uptick in church visitation today. Is that good? Yes! But why are they coming?

Some might say, “It doesn’t matter why they walk in, as long as they come.” I would agree. I pray that those whose motives were to attend a resurrection service because it’s just like every other holiday, would come in one way, and be changed before the service is ended.

Again, some come because it’s a time to put on your best Easter clothes and play Easter games, with Peter Cottontail and all the egg and chocolate trimmings. I get it. But God had a more serious game he was playing. It involved our lives.

You see my friends, without Christ, you are simply dead. The desert life with the worlds mirages cannot help you. You are not unconscious, unmoving, or resistant to his love, but lifeless. Flatlined. Satan is the culprit behind your spiritual blindness. (2 Corinthians 4:
3-4).

You just are unable to respond. Some of you consider yourselves pretty vibrant before hearing the gospel about having new life in Christ. You may have appeared confident, successful, or favored, but looks can deceive.

Dead is dead. We all know what dead looks like. Especially God. Just read it. (Revelation 3:17). This is what all believers were before they repented and turned to Jesus. Before grace quickened our hearts.

We once believed that we were independent, autonomous agents of self-rule and that what turns out to be bondage was life. But it wasn’t life at all. Again, read it. (Ephesians 2:
1-3).

In the time Jesus lived in, everyone thought the religious leaders had the keys of the Kingdom. They thought being children of Abraham and living under the law got them a first-class seat to heaven.

But Jesus exposed their phony religious tactics, didn’t he? Yes, they were the ones with authority, the ones who opened and shut doors, but mostly shut them from everyone else (Matthew 23:15). Their authority offered no life.

🗣📢 Last words: Sadly, today, many churches are still living like the religious leaders and teaching a false gospel to the spiritually unlearned. Easter is a time that true Christians focus on the Resurrection Day!

The Commercialization of Easter is fun for Satan. It is another mirage in the desert of life to keep hearts away from knowing Jesus through his resurrection. Satan is the master of slight of hand tricks.

Satan tried this on Jesus. (Matthew 4:
1-11). Notice all his mirage tricks? He still uses them on us today. Some Easter followers are so taken up with the values of this world that they are blind to the priceless gift Jesus offers.

The Resurrection, the greatest event in history, is the foundation of our hope. Jesus promised that he would rise from the dead, and because he did, we can be assured that every other promise God makes us will also come true.

Some of the
2024 skeptics still being used by Satan will still ask these questions or make statements about the resurrection. Here are just a few of their erroneous comments.

A) Jesus was just a mythical figure.

B) Jesus was just a man.
C) Jesus followers made it all up.
D) The witnesses were all unreliable.
E) The resurrection of Jesus was not that important to the early church.

F) The New Testament is not reliable.
G) The resurrection is not important.
H) The eyewitnesses hallucinated.
I) Jesus did not die on the cross.
J) Jesus’ body was stolen. Some are still holding to this lie in
2024.
K) Everyone went to the wrong tomb. Wow! They didn’t need GPS to find him.

If you want the answers to these outrageous statements, I’ll have them for you, Lord willing, next week. Or you can find them today with the Holy Spirit’s help. But the biblical evidence is overwhelming that Jesus has risen!

The power of God that brought Jesus back from the dead will also bring us back to life. Jesus’ death was not the end. His resurrection is the beginning of eternal life for all who believe in him. Do you believe?

🛐 Here’s a prayer you can pray to live alive. “Heavenly Father, thank you so much for this special day where we celebrate your life. Lord, on this Easter Sunday, we give thanks for the sacrificial love you showed.

We praise and thank you today for bringing people out of the spiritual desert of death and the redemption they find in your resurrection. As the sun rises today, may the light of your victory over death shine in our hearts.

Lord, as we celebrate the real reason for Easter, renew our faith and refresh our spirits. May your resurrection inspire us to live with conviction, share your love with others, and walk in newness of life.

Thank you for the gift of salvation and the promise of eternal life. May our hearts overflow with gratitude and praise. This Easter, help us to reflect your glory in all we do. We has this in your living name, Amen.”

HAPPY RESURRECTION DAY EVERYONE!

Life’s living sustenance

Good morning, everyone from Pastor Todd. Welcome to “Try Jesus!” If this is your first time joining us, it’s great to have you with us. I would like to thank all the new members for joining “Try Jesus.” Also welcome those in Pennsylvania, Arizona, North Carolina, Alabama, and Iowa.

How do you find peace and contentment in a society that is anti-everything? How do you find common ground in places where every word is divisive? More than ever, we need to pray for common ground in the body of Christ.

Not just any ground, but standing on the word of Holy Ground! Anytime God shows up he brings unity and oneness. Jesus taught his disciples to have love one for another (John 13:34,35).

I love the song 🎵 “We’re the people of God, called by his name, called from the dark, and delivered from shame, one holy race, saints everyone, because of the blood of Christ, Jesus the son.

Hear us O spirits of darkness, so you will know where we stand, we are his children, purchased with scars, bought by the blood of the lamb, the blood of the lamb. 🎵

Jesus fully knows his church and those that are his living sheep. Let’s welcome our true shepherd’s presence this morning. “Heavenly Father, thank you for the breath of life this morning. Lord, we know tomorrow is never promised.

Thank you Jesus for gathering hearts across this nation today. We may be separated in distance, but not in your presence. Lord, may you be glorified in our community, city, state, and our nation.

Father please lift our eyes to seek you first today. We ask that you help us to remember to put on your armor daily, for you give us all that we need to stand firm on this day.

We thank you that though you remind us in your word that the whole world lies under the power of the evil one, you are still far greater and we have overcome, because you have set us free.

No weapon that is formed against us will prosper, and that you tell us this is our heritage in you. Through you Lord, we have inherited blessing, place of possession, and gifts from your hand.

We love you, Lord. We need you. We stand together in your great powerful name. You are the author and finisher of our faith. Holy Spirit, open our hearts completely today, In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Have you ever gone throughout the day recognizing the many wonderful, beautiful smells that our wonderful nostrils take in everyday? Some of you might be thinking, “He hasn’t met my uncle Bob.”

I guess there are many smells we would like to erase from our memory. But it’s beautiful when we retain those smells that are invigorating to our senses. Growing up, one of those smells I loved, but never indulged in, was my mother’s coffee.

I have always loved the smell of fresh brewed coffee, but absolutely hated to drink it. Some of you love it so much, you start your morning with your “cup of Joe.” Again, I could sit and fellowship with a coffee drinker who loves Jesus all day long.

However, I do have other favorite smells that I could smell a long way off, even blind folded. My mother would sometimes make homemade bread. I can remember wanting to be the first one into the dining room or kitchen to get the first slice.

I can remember spreading butter on it and waiting for it to melt. I could easily eat two or three slices. It was the best bread I had ever eaten. It was so good I would think of other foods to put inside the bread.

Whatever the meal course was at my house, salad, appetizer, entree, or dessert, I tried to have some fresh baked bread with it. Is it lunchtime yet? Should we say close with prayer right here?

All the homemade bread bakers that are members of “TRY JESUS” can send me a text with airline tickets to fly over for “Bread and Fellowship Day!” LOL. Don’t you just love the body of Christ? Thats why I love church picnics.

Before we jump into our message for today, I did want to share a beautiful story with you about a woman who used to come to a church-bible study meeting we had. She loved to bake different foods.

One day she came in with something wrapped completely in aluminum foil. It looked like a football. The smell was absolutely swirling through the room. We continued with the service to its completion.

As we closed in prayer, she walked over to the long tables we used for reading materials and meals. I saw her pick up that football (smile) and walk up to me at the pulpit. She told me it was a gift for me because she was so blessed with the messages.

As we all began to sit down, all eyes were on me unwrapping this amazing gift with such a wonderful smell. When I opened it, my mouth started to water. It was a loaf of bread. But it wasn’t just any type of bread.

It was fresh homemade from scratch “Banana Bread.” I had never eaten banana bread before. It was warm and soft. I cut a slice and took a bite. It absolutely melted in my mouth. It was so delicious.

I didn’t want to seem hoggish, so I asked if anyone else wanted a slice, (hoping they would say no thank you). After everyone declined, I smiled and said, “Ok this loaf is coming with me.”

After Ms. Mary gave me that banana bread she would surprise me with it from time to time. Guess what I received from her on my birthday? If you “TRY JESUS” members can’t get this right we need to talk (Smile).

Since I’ve become a born-again believer, I’ve always wondered how the bread Jesus fed the four thousand and feeding of the five thousand tasted? I can only think of how that mouthwatering delicious bread must have tasted.

Obviously there were no customer complaints about the bread being stale or moldy. We can see in the word of God how it started and ended. Let’s begin in (Matthew 14:14). We see that multitudes of people were following Jesus.

Jesus cares about the whole of every person, not just their appetites and stomachs. He had great compassion on them and saw many had physical needs. Have you tried to enjoy a meal while being bodily sick or injured?

I remember when I tore a meniscus in my right knee while playing basketball. After the surgery I was on crutches for a couple weeks. The meals I had were not as great because my mind was focused on getting well.

Jesus took great care of his followers. He did this because he had compassion on them. Jesus was, and is, a loving, caring, and feeling person. He loves and cares about the whole you today just as much as he did for those in his day.

The disciples had already seen Jesus do miracles. They still asked him to send the people away to the local village to buy food. Can you imagine eating some old left over bread compared to some five-star bread from the hands of Jesus?

Let’s visually see this unfold in the gospels.
16} “But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat. 17} And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.

18} He said, Bring them hither to me. 19} And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

20} And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full. 21} And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.” (Matthew 14:16-21 KJV).

Wow! Talk about the perfect catering order! There were five thousand men, not including the women and children. Even the leftovers were more than they had begun with. The number twelve could have represented the baskets for each disciple.

Instantly Jesus was the greatest Michelin star perfect chef. Joël Robuchon’s 31 Michelin Stars with Gordon Ramsay’s 16 Michelin Stars combined pale in comparison to the miracle hand of Jesus.

Even after the disciples had wanted to send the people away, not trusting in the care Jesus could provide, he still didn’t forget about their stomachs. Isn’t God the greatest provider in the world? There should be many Amen’s out there today knowing Jesus is our greatest provider.

I remember some time ago we had a gentleman who would bring bread from the food bank to our church. One day as I was teaching a Bible study downstairs, he came barging in and putting bread on the kitchen counter.

After he left, I walked over and glanced at some of the loaves. They were hard green and moldy. After the class was over, I told everyone to be careful of what they were taking home.

The next time I saw the gentleman I confronted him on his approach to checking items before bringing them in. I won’t elaborate on his demeanor, only to say I continued to pray for him from that moment on.

Just as Jesus prayed over the loaves and fishes, we should bless the food that is given to us with wisdom, prayer, and thanksgiving. Needless to say, everyone started to inspect the food more closely after that incident.

I’m obviously at a different ministry now, but my point is that God always offers us his best. Jesus in relation to today’s message told the people he is the bread of life.

The word of God tells us that we know this about the Lord.
“O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.” (Psalm 34:8 KJV). Have you ever tasted the goodness of something?

That is, something is so good it reaches and satisfies all your senses? This is the goodness of Jesus. Let’s see this goodness in the word. In John chapter six, (after Jesus had fed the five thousand) the people reacted differently.

They tried to force Jesus to be their worldly king (Verse 15). They didn’t want him, only what they could get from him. But here was Jesus’ response to their blind physical desires (their bellies).

26} “Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.

27} Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.” (John 6:26-27 KJV).

Jesus was appealing to their physical and more importantly,

their spiritual appetites. Many people today still use religion for the wrong reasons. They may focus on the flesh and not the Holy Spirit.

True believers follow Jesus simply because they know he has the truth and the key to life’s ultimate purpose and meaning. The people then needed Jesus to do some sightful miraculous miracle. (Verse 30,31).

They had just witnessed a miracle of thousands being fed. How quickly we forget and continue to allow doubt, biases, and unbelief to cloud the truth and block our heart (Satan’s deceptions) to believe the truth.

They immediately told Jesus about the manna God visibly gave the people (John 6:31). They just couldn’t except him to be more than just a prophet or good man. Again, here is Jesus’ beautiful response to them.

32} “Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. 33} For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.” (John 6:32-33 KJV).

After this they respond with excitement, (possibly thinking Jesus would give them always this physical bread from the sky). They still did not understand that Jesus wanted to feed their spirits. He was the only source in life to do this.

35} And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. 36} But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.

41} The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven. 44} No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

48} I am that bread of life. 49} Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. 50} This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.

51} I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. (John 6:35-36,41,44,48-51 KJV).

You can only satisfy spiritual hunger by having a living relationship with Jesus. I know plenty of people who have a mental relationship with Jesus but not a spiritual one. They tell me things like, “they need to read the Bible, or attend church or fellowship of any kind.”

They don’t need to pray or believe in spiritual gifts. Just as people who don’t know God eat physical bread, people who do know God through Jesus Christ eat spiritual bread. Jesus is that living bread.

Bread must be eaten to sustain life, and Jesus must be invited into our daily lives to satisfy our hungry souls. Here’s a key point to look at what Jesus told the people about the Manna from heaven. The people ate manna, yet still died.

They all also disrespected God and did not follow his instructions on how to properly handle the manna (bread) among the people. (Exodus 16:15-20; 26-28,35). Have you ever had to tell your children repeatedly to close up the bread?

Jesus made the point that if you eat his flesh (spiritual food, his word, as nourishment), you will live forever. Sadly, they still didn’t get it.
“The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” (John 6:52 KJV).

Jesus once again explained things in a spiritual sense. They kept believing things in a literal sense (fleshly). Which is why the mind if flesh cannot comprehend the things of God. (Romans 8:4-9).

[The religious leaders thought this was repugnant and  cannibalistic because the law forbade it (Leviticus 17:10-11). Jesus was not talking about literal blood. He was saying that his life had to become their own, but they could not accept this concept.]

When his own disciples murmured at this, Jesus asked them if it offended them (John 6:61). But as usual, he explained to them with such caring love his answer.

“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:63 KJV). The word of God is not like the words in a newspaper, comic book, or published magazine.

Their inked words die on the pages. The Bible’s words are living, breathing words that jump off the pages into your heart when you open it to them (John 14:7; Hebrews 4:12).

[God’s word has living, life-changing, dynamic power that works in us. God’s Word reveals who we are and what we are not. It penetrates to the core of our moral and spiritual lives. It discerns both the good and the evil within us.]

God’s powerful word can change us. We must not only listen to it; we must also let it transform our lives. It also then enables us to respond to the truth. After all the discussion Jesus had with some so-called believers, they left him.

Notice the passage when Jesus spoke these words. (John 6:66). Please don’t over exaggerate my statement. True believers know what “666” stands for (Revelation 13:11-18). True believers would take the position his 12 disciples took. (John 6:67-69; 1 John 2:18-19).

Before we close for the day, I would bring up the point that Jesus is not only that true delicious bread from heaven but just like any good meal we have, it usually comes with a refreshing drink.

Jesus also stated he is that living drink for those who thirst for him. …
“and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.” (John 6:35 KJV). One of the most powerful passages in the Bible involves a woman who wanted this eternal thirst.

We all know it as the “The woman at the well.” Please read this interaction between her and Jesus aloud to yourself or your study group in (John 4:6-15; 25-29; 39-42). Jesus is that everlasting living water true believers drink daily.

[What did Jesus mean by “living water”? In the Old Testament, many verses speak of thirsting after God as one thirsts for water (Psalm 36:9; 42:1; Isaiah 55:1; Jeremiah 2:13; 17:13; Zechariah 13:1).]

Have you ever quenched for a great tasting beverage after a delicious meal? God not only satisfies our spiritual hunger, he replenishes us with living water. God meets our every need.

“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” (Matthew 5:6 KJV). Under Moses, the people drank water from a rock and ate manna. God provided then, and he gives us the same rock, Jesus! (1 Corinthians 10:1-4).

[The rock, from which the water came, and the manna are here viewed by Paul as symbolic of the spiritual sustenance that all born-again believers find when they hunger after Jesus. This is how you stay filled up daily.]

If you’re empty and dying of thirst today, fill up on these living words. (John 7:37; Revelation 7:16-17; 21:6; 22:17). Remember my friends, have God’s word. Many still look for answers to life’s problems everywhere except in scripture.

🗣📢 Last words: When you first wake up, do you desire anything from Jesus? Or is he an afterthought? To hunger for Jesus as living bread means to accept him into our lives and become united with him.

Today you can be united with him in two ways: A) by believing in his death (the sacrifice of his body, or flesh) and resurrection (Easter is next week). By keeping his commandments.

B) And devoting yourself to living as he requires, depending on his teaching for guidance, and trusting in the Holy Spirit for power to live daily representing him to a dark world.

When the community starts to persecute you, don’t turn tail and run away like the disciples did. If not for the love Jesus pursued them with, they’d still be running today.

Many people today still view Jesus as an ATM machine. Just using him to get what they want. It’s like having a wealthy fiend who goes broke. After the money is gone you want nothing to do with him.

Many left Jesus because he didn’t fit into their worldly, earthly, gimme attitude. They realized that Jesus wasn’t going to be the conquering Messiah-King they expected. Jesus refused to give in to their self-centered requests.

Jesus always emphasized faith, not deeds. Many thought his teachings were difficult to understand, and some of his words were offensive. In 2024, many still treat Jesus the same way.

sea of clouds

If they choose not to repent, they will one day thirst like the rich man. But no one will quench their thirst. (Luke 16:22-24). Keep your senses, touch, taste and smell directed towards Jesus.

Remember, God can take anything you surrender to his care (loaves, water to wine) and multiply it far beyond your expectations. What seemed like a small lunch of fish and bread is more than enough when God is involved.

Last week we turned on the light. Now that the light is on, you can see who wants to serve you. You don’t have to settle for prison bread and water. Ready to pray your order?

🛐 Here’s a prayer you can pray to receive your spiritual nourishment. “Heavenly Father, thank you for today’s awakening message for my soul. I always need encouragement as I sometimes get into unhealthy appetites.

Jesus, I sometimes find myself dry and, in the wilderness, entangled in sinful habits. I’m ready to be the vessel in which you can supply your living bread and water to my soul.

Father forgive me for wondering in the sinful dry desert holding on to all the mirages Satan set in my mind and heart. Lord, by your power, the same power that delivered the demoniac from his bondage.

Jesus, there is only one cure for my spiritual dryness. That’s believing you came to give me life and life more abundantly. Save me Jesus! from this dry, barren, empty mess I’m living in. I’m here today at your spiritual alter.

I know you’ll heal me, clean me, and then fill me. My spirit is ready to receive your spiritual smorgasbord of living bread and drink from your never-ending spiritual reservoir.

Thank you for graciously giving me all I need for life. Thank you for fresh starts, new hope, and abundant joy, all gifts of your amazing grace! I pray all this in your glorious name. Amen.”

The right illumination – Try Jesus

Good morning, everyone from Pastor Todd. Welcome to “Try Jesus!” If this is your first time joining us, it’s great to have you with us. I would like to thank all the new members for joining “Try Jesus.” Also welcome those in Oregon, Washington, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Nevada.

What an opportunity the body of Christ has to spread the good news to those who are here, that never were able to hear the true gospel before. The harvest is spread out as a smorgasbord feast, we just need the laborers to meet them.

I understand the mission field for many is to go to other nations and spread the good news. But there are many coming here that also need to hear about the love of Jesus Christ. The power of the gospel is still available to reach the lost.

Prayer

Let’s look to that power today. “Heavenly Father, I thank you for the many gathered hearts and minds that have focused on you this morning. Thank you, Lord, for keeping us throughout this week.

Jesus, you are our rock and fortress today. You are our shield and the horn of our salvation. You are our stronghold and will not withhold anything from those who walk uprightly before you.

Lord, as we examine your word today, send your Holy Spirit to set our hearts on fire. As we meet your living words through “TRY JESUS” help us spread love, joy, peace, goodness, and faithfulness.

Let us desire to become more like you and to worship you in all we do. Help us desire these things so much more than the sin that entices us. Equip us today to stand strong in your armor and in the power of your might, In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

How many of you have ever gone through a power blackout in your community? What’s your first thought when this happens? Do you say like many people, “Ah, man! I was watching the game!”

Maybe you were preparing a special meal. What about doing laundry? Or maybe your children were in the shower. Maybe you had just put new groceries in the fridge. Whatever the occasion, your power was suddenly taken away from you.

Here’s another scenario to look at. Which feels worse to you, having a power outage in the daytime or at night? Some of you live in states where this is a common occurrence all the time.

Some of the fault comes from human incompetence, the rest is typically storm related. However your homes power is disturbed, you mind quickly goes into prevention mode.

When this happens during the day you can manage things a little easier. But at night, you have to get out the candles, flashlights, and anything else to maneuver around your home effectively.

At night I notice more people poke their heads outside to see if the neighborhood is blacked out. However, during a daytime power outage, people tend to function more adequately until the power is restored.

Of course, all this is a moot point for those of you who have a home generator. However, they are not to be used as a permanent solution. You still rely on the main power source for your quality of living.

Did you know that there are not power outages with God and those in his church? The flow of God's power never diminishes as we continue to make available the right connectivity, our heart.

Did you know that there are not power outages with God and those in his church? The flow of God’s power never diminishes as we continue to make available the right connectivity, our heart.

What do I mean? Well, God is a never-ending flow of power that born-again believers are always connected to. But when we go looking for that power outside of God, we tend to flicker like a short wick candle.

Imagine if you took all the electrical appliances in your home and ran an extension cord to your neighbor’s house and turned on all your appliances, what might happen? You would probably short their circuit breakers.

Even worse, you might cause a fire that would burn down your neighbor’s home. In a spiritual sense, this is what can happen when we misuse God’s power or his word ineffectively. You end up not performing efficiently for the Kingdom.

Constant sin in the life of a believer leaves them living a life like the electrical power in California, you end up living with “rolling blackouts.” At times, some of you may prefer the lights in your home be dimmed.

I have a number of dimmer switches in my home. I get to control how much light I choose to be in the room I’m in. But notice who is controlling the brightness that comes through, me.

The dimmer raises or lowers the brightness. It simply cuts off the circuit every time the current reverses direction. Which means there is zero voltage running through the circuit.

That tells me there is not enough power to light up the room I’m in. Our spiritual lives can be the same way. We must consistently make ourselves available to God’s presence and power.

Before we jump into the word of God to empower our lives, I wanted to let all the members and those visitors for the first time know that for the next two weeks we will be primarily looking at the words of Jesus through light, bread, and water.

Lord willing, I hope to finish before we jump into the celebration of “Resurrection Day.” (Easter Sunday). God is good all the time, all the time, God is good! Amen? Praise the Lord!

Ok, lets jump right into the Word of God. When we place ourselves in his light, we then can let his light shine throughout our community and this nation. First let me state that all believers have no original light of our own.

We are born sinners and are like those power outages that leave us in darkness. All unbelievers walk in living darkness until they repent of their sins and turn to the only power that illuminates them.

Please read these verses aloud to yourselves from the Apostle John or read them aloud to your Bible study group. Have you ever tried to read in the dark? Today, you can be in constant light.

5} “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6} If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

7} But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. (1 John 1:5-7 KJV).

[Light represents what is good, pure, true, holy, and reliable. Darkness represents what is sinful and evil. The statement that God is light means that God is perfectly holy and true and that he alone can guide us out of darkness.]

Have you ever tried to move around normally in the dark without any light at all? Everything in the dark looks the same. I’ve bumped into objects in the dark and didn’t know what it was until I shined a light on it.

The apostle John is exposing false teaching in verse 6 and throughout his epistles. John is saying that no one can call themselves a Christian and still live an evil or immoral life. We can’t love God and court sin at the same time.

Light and darkness compared to oil and water. Paul emphasized this spiritual separation to the people in Corinth. (2 Corinthians 6:14-16). Some of those in Corinth walked in the moto of “If it feels good, do it!”

Paul told those who lived in the Spirit should not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. This doesn’t just apply to the marriage relationship, but to the darkness that Satan has blanketed in the world.

Those who have discovered God’s light should not compromise with those who can’t see it (1 Corinthians 10:20-21). The world’s system sits at the table of Satan. God has given us a choice which table to sit at.

The Bible mentions the word light in 235 verses throughout the scriptures. God is the originator of true living light. Satan’s light is related what the world offers you. My mother used to say, “Everything that glitters is not gold.”

Las Vegas has some of the most brilliant nighttime lights in the country. But within that light, it has taken up the reputation as being called “Sin City.” Everything that happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right?

I’m sure there are believers in the state of Nevada sharing the light of the gospel and praying for those who bask themselves in the Vegas glitter of darkness. God has shed his light in the hearts of true believers.

John the Baptist was one of those true believers that witness this light. (John 1:4-10). God is that spiritual light, Jesus is that physical light and the Holy Spirit is that filling light. All three are zeroed in on its destination, our heart.

Jesus proclaimed these words after telling a woman who was living in darkness after being accused by others who were religious hypocrites and false teachers themselves.

11} “She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her,Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

12} Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying,I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. (John 8:10-12 KJV).

Jesus is the only light that has light in it. He is the greatest light of all time. Jesus is the true light against all the false light spewed out by false religions and teachers.

Jesus is the light of life (Matthew 4:12-16; Isaiah 9:1-5). Jesus used light as a picture of good works (Matthew 5:16; Psalm 76:4). The word glorious in Psalm 76 verse 4 means to be luminous. To show light. To set on fire.  To shine.

Jesus told those who had doubts about who he was to walk with him while he was with them. Have you ever tried to walk around in a strange place without any light? In your own home you might be able to maneuver around a little bit.

But in a world covered in darkness, you need the light of Jesus to help you walk throughout the whole day (John 12:35-37,46). You must continue to walk while you have the light before darkness overtakes you.

Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going. When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them. There are many people who think any religion carries light in it.

If that were the case then why did Jesus reject the religion of the Pharisees and Sadducees? Didn’t their religion measure up to the standards of the law? Remember my friends Satan has light too. But it’s a light of deception.

His light is the kind of light that if you were carrying a flashlight in the woods at night, it would lead you to a cliff. And then someone behind

you in the dark (who told you this is the way) would push you off the cliff.

Thats why false teachers cannot see where they are leading their followers. It’s really not a flashlight but a “darklight.” But people who are true born-again believers know the true light that illuminates from his Holy Word.

Please read the following verse aloud. “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (Psalm
119:105 KJV). Do you read the Bible every day? I know people who never read the Bible and wonder why they get sucked into every false denomination that’s out there.

I recently spoke to a woman who told me she could know God without going to church or reading her Bible. I asked her what is one of the most important things you can teach a child to do when they are adolescents?

I asked this because she had children. She gave me many answers, but I was surprised she did not mention one of the most critical things a child needs to learn to function as they grow up and be successful in life.

She finally said, “What is it I didn’t mention?” I smiled and told her “Reading.” Every person should learn to read, right? I told her the Bible is the most important book you can put in their face and read it to them.

The Bible is light for the soul that is born in darkness. There are other religious books in the world but the word of God was spoken in truth (John 8:
31-34; 17:17; Romans 8:1-10). When we walk through unknown terrain in the dark, we use a light in order to see our way.

Jesus told us that same light we use to light our way, should never be hid under a bushel.
14} “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15} Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16} Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16 KJV).

That is a very powerful visual, yet simple example of how the Bible shows us that we live in a world that lies in the pitch darkness of sin. Our country needs this light to penetrate the devastating effects of what sin does to people.

Light is supposed to be the greatest disinfectant, right? So why do people hate it and run from it? Jesus gives the answer.
“The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.” (John 7:7 KJV).

Jesus further spoke more truth about light and darkness. 19} “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

20} For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

21} But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.” (John 3:
19-21 KJV).

Most evil crimes are done in the dark. However, because we have watered down sentencing laws against criminal activity, they have become more engrossed in darkness which leads to crimes being committed in broad daylight.

This gives Satan more control over their hearts and minds. Earlier, I spoke about a friend who told me she doesn’t read the Bible. Her statement makes me think about someone who purchased a brand-new house.

This person also had new electrical wire installed in the home. But to the light company she was an utter nuisance. Why? Because she kept complaining she had no power and no lights at night.

Each time the power company came out to check her meter, they told her she all the power she needed. After further investigation, the power company sent someone inside her house to check her circuit breakers.

Everything still checked out ok. Afterwards the electrical technician turned on one of her switches. “Oh my!” the lady exclaimed. She hadn’t turned on any light switches.

I know that story leaves everyone thinking, what a “dunderhead.” But spiritually people treat God and the Bible the same way. The electricity in your home comes from the power company.

Your meter measures watts of electricity in your home. It tells how much power you are using in your home. Those watts are a product of voltage and amperage. So, the power is there for you. But you must use it to make things in your homework.

The Bible is the same source of power you need every day to continue to shine in your home, your neighborhood, and your nation. Jesus always took his light to the most darkest places. Our nation reminds me of a full total eclipse.

The light is there, but all you see is darkness. The great thing about the light of Jesus is, no darkness can snuff out his light. When Paul (Saul) met this light for the first time, it literally blinded him (Acts 9:
1-9).

Without the “Sun,” the world would plunge into total darkness and people would die. The same applies to people who don’t have the “Son,” they live in total darkness. Jesus introduced this light to someone named Paul.

Here are the powerful scriptures where Paul spoke about light. (2 Corinthians 4:
3-6; 6:14; Ephesians 5:8-13; Romans 13:12; 1 Corinthians 4:5; Philippians 2:15-16; Colossians 1:10-12; 1 Thessalonians 5:4-5; 1 Timothy 6:14-16; 2 Timothy 1:7-11).

Never allow Satan to put the spiritual blindfold you were born with back on you again. Don’t forget my beloved, Satan is like a chameleon, he can pretend he is in the light. He uses false teachers (2 Corinthians 11:
12-15).

[We can’t see our future, direction, or destination, but Jesus can. Like the lighthouse guided the ship, Jesus directs us toward God’s light. The light of Christ guides us through the darkness of sin.]

Our lives are forever being pulled towards the darkness of sin. But the eyes of Jesus can continually defeat that aggressive darkness. Keep his light in your eyes. (Luke 11:
34-35; Psalm 119:130; James 1:17; 1 Peter 2:9; Ecclesiastes 2:13; 1 John 2:8-11).

As I was preparing this message, I took a break on Friday (3/15) to change clothes and saw that some strong storms had just passed through Indiana and Ohio. Nearly 20,
000 electrical outages were reported.

Please pray for those impacted by the storms. May the Lord shine his light and love through his beloved believers who may live in these hit areas. God has a perfect and brilliant way to bring the cross in chaos.

🗣📢 Last words: If we want to be in relationship with God, we must put aside our sinful ways of thinking and living. Light and darkness can never fellowship.

There are many who feel they can party with the devil and night and hang out with God in the light of day. Believe when I tell you, it’s impossible to do so. True born-again Christians who have tried this are the most miserable people on the planet.

We become hypocrites if we say we belong to him but then go out and live only for ourselves with little thought of serving others. Jesus will always expose and judge such deceit.

Believers should do everything in their power to avoid situations that could force them to divide their loyalties when hanging out with unbelievers. You can tell if you have gone too far by asking which of you is influenced by the other.

If you do not have the light in you than you do not know God. It’s like carrying a flashlight with no batteries in it. Those who know God, are of the light and walk in the light. God is light. It is his plan that believers shine forth his light.

Why does Jesus’ life bring light to everyone? Because physical death brings eternal darkness and only Jesus’ eternal life (his light) planted in us will keep us alive in his new Kingdom for eternity.

Jesus is eternally alive because he is God. He came to earth to offer us the hope and light of his eternal life. It can’t be purchased, only received as a gift. But Jesus gives it only to those who want it.

The churches goal should be to witness to the unsaved. The church should avoid all comparisons to being like the world. How so? Many churches will engage in worldly programs that open the door for darkness to pierce in.

The church should avoid all appearances of darkness and use the illuminating word to open the eyes of the spiritually blind and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God (Acts 26:18).

How brightly is your light shining today? Can others see Jesus in your actions? If you need your spiritual pilot light relit, just ask God. You can be that living lighthouse once again (Psalm 18:28).

🛐 Here’s a prayer you can pray to shine out. “Heavenly Father, thank you for today’s enlightening message. Lord, sometimes I feel as though I’m being pulled further away from your light at the time I should be drawing closer.

Today’s message Lord, was the true light I needed to see. Isaiah 1:18 lets me know true repentance allows your hand to bring light and make me white as snow. Lord, thank you for illuminating my path with Your guiding light.

I am thankful for your divine care of me during my times of ignorance, darkness, and sin. As I stand before you today, I humbly ask that you continue to shine your light upon me. Make me a vessel of hope and inspiration to those around me.

Father, help me to radiate brightly, so that my loved ones, community, coworkers, and the world at large may witness the embodiment of Jesus Christ within me.

Make my life an act of worship so others may people see the goodness 9f the Lord in the land of the living. Just as a city that is built on a hill cannot be hidden, so you have also set me as a light in the world.

Father, help me to bear fruits worthy of repentance that others will see my good works, in the name of Jesus Christ.
May others who are still in darkness benefit from your glory in me. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen.”

The Inseparable relationship

Good morning, everyone from Pastor Todd Boxley.   Welcome to “Try Jesus!” If this is your first time joining us, it’s great to have you with us. I would like to thank all the new members for joining “Try Jesus.” Also welcome those in Texas, South Carolina, Kentucky, South Dakota, and Nebraska.

Many today wonder about the direction our nation is headed. Many feel we have abandoned our moral compass. Does it feel like we have replaced the spiritual guidelines of the commandments?

How do we stay centered in God when the nation is pulling in the opposite direction? This is when we focus on the God who orders our steps. This is when we say, “The cross before me, the world behind me.”

This is when we can sing, “Abiding in the vine.” This is when we stand in the armor of God. God will always tell his church, “This is the way, walk ye in it.” “Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might!”

This is why we continue to pray and walk in victory. God is still in control and on his throne, Amen? Let’s glorify God in prayer. “Heavenly Father, you are an amazing God! Your mercy endures forever.

We thank you for giving us the breath of life this morning. Lord, we thank you for keeping us in your hands throughout this week. We thank you for meeting all our needs. We have come together to magnify, glorify, and worship you in spirit and in truth.

May your living word and the Holy Spirit open our understanding in today’s message. Lord, by your Holy Spirit, breakdown every assignment of the enemies’ devices. May your word break every chain of bondage, in Jesus’ name, Amen.”

I would like to thank all those that responded to “Remember Me” from last week. God is still working his word in the hearts of those that seek after him. Please continue to pray for me and those who prayerfully support “TRY JESUS.”

Have you ever missed someone so badly that you had to see them or hear their voice? It’s been said that absence makes the heart grow fonder. How many of you have sons or daughters serving in the Armed forces?

Maybe you have a spouse serving in the military. Have you ever seen the surprise home visits they show on TV? You can see raw real emotions spilling out from their heart when they see the person they love.

Real love has a way of expressing itself beyond the half-hearted expression people question at times from each other. Have you ever asked someone more than once if they missed you?

Have you ever hugged your children after returning home from a long trip and asked them “Did you miss me?” It’s always amusing to hear a child’s response, “uhm, yeah mom, sure, what’s for dinner?”

Or maybe they quickly say to you, “yeah, did you bring me anything?” Keep loving them anyway, right? The greater your love for someone, the more your thoughts are filled up with that individual.

Sometimes that love could be for a pet. I grew up loving my dog. His name was Chico. I thought about him constantly. I would run home from school just to play with him. We did everything together when possible.

Even though everyone in the family considered him to be the family dog, he was always with me. He would sleep in my room. We were completely inseparable. When I was older and mature, I would walk him everywhere.

I believe my parents named him Chico after some TV show called “Chico and the Man.” At the time, being very young, I didn’t care what they called him, I just knew I always wanted him around. Haven’t you felt this way about someone?

The word inseparable means to be incapable of being separated or disjoined. It seems some people are seemingly always together. They have a relationship that is rock solid. They are like two musical notes on the same page.

Stories of people who are high school sweethearts and end up in staying married forever are a great encouragement to how to stay inseparable through the ups and downs that life brings.

When you give your whole heart to someone and embrace their whole being, there is nothing that can separate that kind of love. I saw this real love come to my eyes by a man who loved his wife unceasingly.

Ironically, I saw this not to long after Jesus saved me. I was visiting someone in the hospital (judge a babe in Christ). As I walked into the elevator, there were five women in the elevator who looked at me, paused, and asked if I would pray for their friend.

I didn’t know how to respond, but I told them yes. Obviously, I was nervous and unsure what I would say to these total strangers. As I walked into the room, I saw their friend lying there. Her friends told her I was going to pray for her.

We gathered around her bed and held hands. I was still unsure of what to pray, but suddenly I felt this presence and voice in my spirit saying open your mouth. So, I began to pray words over this woman that were not my own.

The Holy Spirit knew what she needed to hear. After finishing praying and holding the patient’s hand, I thanked them all for inviting me. As I turned to leave, they told me to wait. They then proceeded to offer all this money.

I felt like God deserves this not me.

not man put asunder. (Matthew 19:5-6 KJV). Many people attack the foundation of marriage. But God takes marriage very seriously.

Many have tried to pollute the sanctity of marriage. Again, marriage is the visual relationship that God created as a symbol to how he wanted to be with us. Notice, his church is referred to as his bride.

The wedding of the Lamb and his bride, the church are one with God. The church consists of all faithful (born-again) believers from all time that will be with God for all eternity (Revelation 19:
7-8; 21:2; Isaiah 61:10).

Jesus himself made the claim that he and his Father were one (John 10:
30-33,38). One God in three persons. God demonstrated his love for us by severing his bonding relationship with his son. Which was restored when Jesus said, “It is finished.”

You cannot be anymore inseparable than that. God wants us to seek him for that kind of relationship with all our heart, soul, and strength. God loves you; Jesus loves you; the Holy Spirit was sent by Jesus to dwell in you.

Earlier, I spoke about God breathing his life into Adam. Did you know Jesus breathed his breath on his disciples? Is the breath of God and the breath of the Jesus the same? (Genesis 2:7; John 20:22).

The breath. Greek definition. Meaning immediacy in the sense of receive right now. Hebrew word from (Genesis 2:7) is breath (neshâmâh). Which denotes a puff of wind. A divine breath. The breath of Spirit.

The old creation began with the breath of God; now the new creation begins with the breath of God the Son. You cannot live in God’s Kingdom without first receiving this breath. Without Jesus, you may be alive naturally, but you are dead spiritually.

Many today try to diminish the oneness Jesus has with the Father. They try to diminish and separate the divinity. Many religions and false teachings have tried to dilute the inseparable oneness that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit have.

Many of them do not even recognize the person of the Holy Spirit in their teachings. You can find many of these religions on the “TJForLife” pull down page “Christianity vs Cults.” Satan’s plan is to muddy the waters of God’s word.

There are many passages in the Bible that speak to the inseparable oneness we have with our Savior and Lord. Here are just a few of them to meditate and plant in the soil of your heart.

(Romans 8:
35-39; Ephesians 1:13; 3:17-19; 4:4-7; Psalm 16:10; Romans 6:3-5; 1 Corinthians 12:11-13; Galatians 2:20; 3:27-29; John 3:16-17; 15:13; Hebrews 13:5; 1 John 4:4-21; 1 Corinthians 13:13).

That last verse is the sealant that holds it all together. Did you know God’s love is different than the world’s love? Many of you have just celebrated Valentines Day this week. But the love Valentines Day offers is mixed with many loves.

How so? Well, it is mixed with financial love. Doesn’t Hallmark make a ton of money on Valentines Day? Doesn’t the chocolate industry profit off of this love? What about the Floral industry? Roses are beautiful, but many die days later.

There are other economic factors in which other businesses want in on the action. When I say it’s mixed. It can be diluted with sinful intentions attached to it. For example, should a fifty-year-old man be giving roses to a seventeen-year-old girl in a dating sense?

Of course, that type of interaction would be corrupted with bad intentions. How about a married woman receiving chocolate hearts from someone else behind her husband’s back?

That’s why the love chapter (1 Corinthians 13) is an important spiritual tutor and guide that Paul emphasized to those in Corinth. Some were morally corrupt. They were embracing the “everything goes, if it feels good do it moto.”

[Love had become a mixed-up term with little meaning in Corinth. Today, people are still confused about love. Love is the greatest of all human qualities and is the very essence of God himself. Faith, hope, and love come together.]

Many lives have been shattered because what they thought was love turned into abuse and desertion. There are many people who tread Valentines Day. It brings back memories of their life being torn apart by unfaithfulness.

Many women carry scars of betrayal and mistrust that leaves them with walls that causes them to abandon any and all thoughts of loving someone in a oneness relationship. Their minds run after inappropriate destructive relationships.

How many people do you know that keep getting into one failed relationship after the other? There are millions and millions of people searching for real love and never find it. The fake economic industry loves it.

They know people will spend hundreds and thousands of dollars on internet date sites hoping to find that love match. With all this said, am I saying it’s wrong to give gifts as an act of love to someone you care about? Not at all.

I’m just indicating the overall fallacy of the love industry. Real lasting love is found only in a personal relationship with Jesus. This is shown throughout the Bible. The woman at the well found out what true love was. (John 4:
7-18).

Jesus came to restore us spiritually and physically. This means being whole and complete. Once Mary Magdalene was delivered by Jesus, she immediately wanted to cling to him forever. (John 20:17).

Jesus needed to not be detained and held at the tomb. If left to Mary, she would have hid him away for herself and protect him from his enemies. But if Jesus did not ascend to the Father, the Holy Spirit would not be sent.

Have you ever wanted to keep somebody all to yourself, and not share them with anyone? Just recently a Hollywood female star made a statement that all women in the industry better stay away from her husband.

She said she would be respectful but forceful in her tone that he is off limits. She is not sharing him with anyone. Christians have a tight oneness relationship with Jesus, but realize he is to be shared with the whole world.

Mary Magdalene later understood this. She found out later that her and Jesus would have an inseparable relationship from then on. What are you holding on to today that could dissolve tomorrow? It’s time to make that eternal decision.

[Be encouraged that no matter what happens to us or where we are, we can never be separated from the love of Jesus. Suffering should not drive us away from God but help us to identify with him and allow his love to reach us and heal us.]

There is no greater love you can find on earth greater than how Jesus loves you. He is the lover of the soul. His power causes us to love our enemies (Luke 6:35). God’s love is absolutely faithful. Grab hold of his benefits and security.

God forgives our sins and offers us salvation. This guarantees living forever with him in heaven. If God were not kind, we would get the punishment we deserve. Because of his kindness, we’ve been given forgiveness we don’t deserve

If you are serious about connecting with God, then start by approaching him openly. He already knows you. He knew of you long before you were formed in the womb. You can connect with God in the midst of everyday life.

Today, if you want to know God, do this:

A) Follow his instructions. (The Bible for life). Don’t follow religious by-laws and legalism rules. Follow Christianity. Connecting with Pharisee type religions will leave you disconnected from God.

B) Follow his heart: You can’t follow the heart of Jesus if you don’t know where it is. Constantly read the four gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John over and over again). Following Jesus means following his word (John 14:15).

C) Follow his example: Don’t follow along from a great distance, while being stained by the world’s influence. Stay in the “What would Jesus do moment.” Prayerfully stay in the outer court, inner court, and Holy of hollies.

Don’t just follow along mindlessly repeating the words of Jesus and scribbling some notes during the pastor’s sermon. “No, TRY JESUS members, really follow. Follow hard!”

🗣📢 Last words: Without God, life ultimately becomes empty and withered. Sometimes you wonder if anything you’ve done really matters or will really last. If you are truly seeking something inseparable, then start here.

Without God, your sinful nature is allowed to eat away at you unchecked, eventually turning your soul into a wasteland. When you invite God into your life, he begins to clean out the weeds of sin so the landscape of your soul can thrive and flourish.

Start with considering how great God is. The awesome creator of the universe. Then consider how sinful and mortal you are. Then consider how great God’s love is for you. Make a habit to review these amazing facts everyday.

Today, my friends, as you commit your whole heart (not a divided half to the world) to the Lord, meditate on this beautiful relationship that even when
facing difficult circumstances, God will stay with you (Psalm 23:1-6).

You can learn to praise God and worship him daily. The God who is powerful enough to sustain the universe, still wants to have an inseparable loving relationship with you. You are his greatest love. He came to redeem you.

Today, rejoice! You can praise God for his forgiveness, healing, and salvation. He will continue to demonstrate his care and eternal love for you now and forever.

“Just like Superglue, God is the bond that holds it all together!” “Get ready for that “Superglue love!”

🛐 Here’s a prayer you can pray to have oneness with God. “Heavenly Father, you are so good, faithful, fulfilling, encouraging, and worthy of following you with all my heart, mind, and soul.

Thank you Lord, for today’s meaningful message. I find myself slipping away from that outer court. There are so many vices that end up ruining my day. I want to move closer to you Lord. Seeking things apart from have failed.

Lord, make me an empty space through which you can exist in this world. Father, let your hands be my hands. Let your eyes be my eyes. Lord, help me to see things, people, and situations the way you see them.

Let your mouth be my mouth. Let your words be my words. Let your ears be my ears. Let your voice be my voice. Let your feet be my feet. Let your being be in my being. Let my heartbeat as one with yours.

Lord, help me to disappear in God. Help me to decrease so he can increase. Thank you, Lord, for your inseparable love in my heart. Keep me always in your grip, in your glorious name I pray, Amen.”

Remember Me

Good morning, everyone from Pastor Todd Boxley.  Welcome to “Try Jesus!” (TJforlife.com). If this is your first time joining us, it’s great to have you with us. I would like to thank all the new members for joining “Try Jesus.” Also welcome those in Louisiana, Indiana, Idaho, Missouri, and Ohio.

What a glorious response to last week’s message. The church should never feel as though the gospel is being smothered by the world’s darkness. God is still in power no matter how many in the church fall away.

The light of Jesus will never grow dim in Satan’s world. Jesus defeated everything sinful and wicked at the cross. Christians today can sustain and live on his word. The first page of Genesis and the last page of Revelation says it all.

The body of Christ shall stand like the two men (Elijah and Moses) stood up in Revelation (Revelation 11:
3-11). God’s redemptive plan cannot be defeated by the world or man’s religion. Today, please encourage yourselves in victory.

Let’s welcome God’s presence in our midst all over this nation. “Heavenly Father, we come to you today with humility and faith because we know that you are our only Source of help and that nothing is impossible with you.

Lord, you have all power to save and protect us from those that are seeking to destroy and to do evil upon us. Today, you are our God, Savior, Provider and Protector. You will not let wicked people to succeed in their evil plans against your people.

Father you confront their evil plans knowing they will not succeed. All their wickedness will return on them and destruction upon them will remind them that you are in control of everything. Our trust is wholly on you.

Holy Spirit, please open closed minds today with power of truth that will set them free. Thank you, Lord, for impacting lives today with purpose and truth. Open eyes to see the opportunities around them.

Help your church to serve and to grow in your blessings and favor. Bless the time those spend at “TRY JESUS.” Focus our minds, soften our hearts, make our time together count for you. You, Lord, are our
Champion, Defender, Provider! Amen.”

Have you ever thought about someone you haven’t seen in a long time? How did you visualize what their appearance might be? Have you thought or wondered if they might remember you? Are class reunions a scary place to visit?

I would suppose these unsettling emotions could take place at weddings, family reunions, big birthday events, and even funerals. Do you have a difficult time remembering people?

I certainly have had my share of embarrassing moments of not remembering people I should. I’ve confessed and apologized more than once to many people I just couldn’t remember their name.

For some reason (not sure why), I forget to remember certain individuals’ names. But praise God! I never forget faces. I could probably work for one of those FBI sketch artist departments to pick out faces in a line up. Smile.

I may have shared this story with some of you before about remembering certain relatives at our family reunions. I was terrible at knowing who certain distance relatives were.

Some, who take my side, would say, “Well, it’s understandable if you only see them once in a while. My brother would take full advantage of this and bring more humiliation on my already fragile emotions.

He would call me over to certain picnic tables and ask me, “Hey Todd, do you remember who these people are?” I knew right away what he was up to. He would introduce me to 3rd and 4th cousins, I hadn’t seen in ages.

Some of you might find this amusing. I have to admit that sometimes it backfired on my brother because they would see what he was up to and give me a hug or a fist pump and say they loved me anyway.

Do you suppose people in heaven have this issue? Do you think God every forgets about us or doesn’t remember us when we approach him? Who would you like to meet more than anyone else (excluding Jesus of course) in heaven?

What would you remember about them prior to meeting them? What do you know about the people you admire in the Bible? Do you think you could be friends with the patriarchs of Bible times? What could you tell me about Gideon?

I mean without looking in your Bible. What can you remember about Samson (other than he was stronger than Arnold Schwarzenegger) LOL. What important details can you share about his life?

Remembering people says a lot about what we think about them. Have you thought like you could know and remember someone just by spending a little a little time with them?

I actually knew some people (without remembering their name). Why? Because they left an indelible mark on my life. Some of you have had grade schoolteachers, medical professionals, sport coaches, and yes, relatives who have left an unforgettable mark on you.

Did you know some of the most unforgettable people in the Bible didn’t have a name? The Bible does not provide us with the names of many characters mentioned in it. But how many have left you always remembering things about them.

I will give you my favorite one in a moment. Here is just a short list of Bible characters that are still remembered to this day. (Cain’s wife Genesis 4:17). People have asked me about the children of Cain.

Up to this point there were only four people in the world: Adam, Eve, Abel (killed by his brother), and Cain. This woman was Cain’s sister. Obviously, Adam and Eve had more children. There are people who remember Cain’s wife.

Noah’s wife. She is someone people should want to remember. Why? We’ve heard the phrase, “Behind every successful man, there is a woman.” I’m sure Noah’s wife helped keep the inside of that ark “Febreze scented” as best she could (Smile).

Noah’s wife just didn’t sit around doing her hair and nails all day. She was equal in all ways with her husband in managing an ark full of smelly animals. That’s not even counting dealing with their sons and daughters (Genesis 7:
13-16).

Moses’ stepmother. Everyone remembers Moses, right? If I asked you to name me one miracle God worked through Moses, I’m sure most of you could do it. But how often do we think about his stepmother?

Moses was floating helplessly in a basket on the Nile. He was rescued by Pharaoh’s daughter while she was bathing (Exodus 2:
5-10). Some might want to easily forget because Moses chose the living God over the Egyptian education he learned while growing up.

The wise men. And no, it was not just 3 wise men. The number or the names of these individuals will always be etched in our memories. Jesus knows the exact number who are with him today.

Gold, frankincense, and myrrh doesn’t necessarily equate to the number of individuals who handled it. It’s like telling someone I had family members help me carry 3 bags of groceries in the house. God certainly remembered them. (Matthew 2:
1-12).

How many of you know there are nameless children in the Bible? Has any left you always thinking about them? Have you ever been inquisitive about someone so bad that you had to know their name?

Children are so easy to know. Some of you might be thinking, “Here Pastor, you can have mine for the weekend!” Children are absolutely loved by God. He encourages all parents to bring them to him (Mark 10:
13-16).

Guess who Jesus used to respond to the question his disciples asked him? Was it a little child? How would you like to see that little child (or maybe grown into adulthood) in heaven today?

Jesus told us to enter his Kingdom, we must have childlike faith. (Matthew 18:
3-6). He also gave a stern warning about mishandling them. Even though it may not be biblical, I believe God has a special place in heaven for all aborted and mishandled adolescents.

Two women in the Bible with children. Who couldn’t remember two agonizing stories about women wanting their children to be healed from evil demonic possession? (Matthew 15:
22-28; Mark 7:25-30).

Our nation can recount heart-wrenching stories in national news about women doing all they can do to help in the health and welfare of their children. A woman will cry out to God with all her heart when her little child needs a miracle.

God has certainly given us medical miracles at the hands of physicians at places like Shriner’s Hospital and St. Jude’s. However, Jesus is still the greatest physician to ever walk this earth. (Matthew 15:
22-28; Mark 7:25-30).

Some of you may have lost a child or witnessed your child go through a serious illness. May the Lord continue to cover your heart and memories with his adoring love. If you need continued prayer, please contact “TRY JESUS.”

The mother of a deceased man. No matter the age of any individual, the mother’s pain does not go unnoticed. It is also emotionally heart-wrenching when a child loses a parent.

This woman had only one son and was a widow as well (Luke 7:
11-17). I’m sure most people at that time remember her without knowing her name.

[Honoring the dead was important in Jewish tradition. A funeral procession, with relatives of the dead person following the body that was wrapped and carried on a kind of stretcher, would make its way through town.]

[Bystanders would be expected to join the procession and hired mourners would cry aloud and draw attention to what was happening. The family’s mourning would continue for 30 days.]

Remembering our widows is something God wants us to do and

act accordingly with love, kindness, and care to help when they struggle. (I Timothy 3:5; Psalm 68:5). Paul wanted families to not forget about their own.

Before we close, I wanted to focus on one nameless person I would definitely love to meet, hug, and shake hands with. So, again, as I put forth the question, “Who in heaven would you love to meet after Jesus?

I have more than one, but I’m thinking about the thief on the cross. There were many people close to Jesus. Crowds pressed on him, so much that Jesus at times would get away to spend time with his father and pray.

The thief on the cross could not get closer to Jesus. He could not touch Jesus. He could not sit down with Jesus and enjoy a meal. Everything you read about Jesus in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John involved so many people.

Initially we see that the two thieves on either side of Jesus spoke against him like the religious leaders and others did. (Matthew 27:38-44). But as time went on, something happened.

Could it be that when the criminals heard Jesus speak these words, that one of them had a change of heart. “Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. (Luke 23:34 KJV).

In our society today, and even in the past, we are quick to judge those who have committed horrible crimes. Many men and women are spending life in prison for their crimes. But God loves those locked behind bars.

Some of you may know people who are in prison today. Some may be related to you. Jesus is still reaching behind bars to redeem those who many feel are unredeemable. Jesus knew the heart of repentance from the thief next to him.

39} “And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. 40} But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?

41} And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. 42} And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.” (Luke 23:39-42 KJV).

[The dying criminal had more faith than many of Jesus’ followers. Although the disciples continued to love Jesus, their hopes for the Kingdom were shattered. Most of them had gone into hiding.]

This nameless man spoke the most powerful words of witness, repentance, and acknowledgement of who Jesus truly was. “Remember me” and Your Kingdom.” Jesus is the King of his Kingdom. He rules and reigns!

Just think, this man’s whole body was racked with pain beyond anything you or I have endured. He could have easily taken the attitude of the other criminal. There were even some who gave up on Jesus and being his followers after his death (Luke 24:21).

“TRY JESUS” members and those who are visiting for the first time, always continue to pray for the incarcerated. Never give up on them. Don’t be like the proud who gauge sin on a moral scale, thinking their goodness qualifies them for heaven.

Many treat those incarcerated like they treat their take out garbage after the sanitation truck has taken the trash away to the landfill, never to be seen again. But praise God, Jesus doesn’t throw us away like that when we blow it.

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (Romans 3:23 KJV). There is no scale of 1-10 that God looks like. Yes, there are abomination sins, but sin is still defined as “missing the mark.”

We all missed the mark because we came from the womb with the seed of sin attached to us. We are born sinners. But Jesus, Praise God! Hallelujah! Came to remove that stain (Romans 3:
24-25; 5:1,8-1217-21; 6:5-11).

If you have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior than you are now a new creature (born-again) in him (2 Corinthians 5:17; Romans 10:8-10,13). God loves those who the world calls despicable.

This is why Jesus said to the thief on the cross,
“And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.” (Luke 23:43 KJV). Jesus could see this man’s heart. He knew this man believed.

Today, many people do not want Jesus until they actually need him. Sometimes they are like those who hate police officers until someone breaks in their home, and then they want them. This the same attitude the other thief had.

He only cared about getting off that cross so he could continue his life of crime. How many stories have you heard of someone standing before a judge for the crimes he committed, pleading with the judge to be lenient.

But right after he is released, he goes right back to committing those same crimes. God help our lawless system; they are completely lost. Many try to befriend Jesus as just being a prophet, good teacher, or just a good man.

But as a born-again believing Christian, I know Jesus is more than a good man. He is my Lord! He’s not only Lord by faith, but he’s Lord by logic! The logical and reasonable conclusion when considering the claims of Christ is to acknowledge Jesus as Lord.

The thief on the realized this while hanging on that cross. You ever wonder why people start to think about God more at funerals or if their life is in danger? Because God has placed that realization in our hearts.

Satan is the culprit that steals it and keeps it (the word-Bible) from taking root in our hearts. (Matthew 13:
19-23). If a person takes the time to examine the life and statements of Jesus, only the following five possible rational choices can be made.

Jesus is only a legend.

Jesus was only a great human leader.

Jesus was mentally unstable.

Jesus was a liar.

Or Jesus Christ is Lord!

Of course, Jesus was more than just a prophet. He is God in the flesh. He made that claim plain and simple.
32} “Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?

33} The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.” (John 10:32-33 KJV). There you have it!

As I look back on my list of the unforgettable, it’s not hard for me to forget the thief on the cross. I know the Bible tells me the wages of sin is death. That means accumulating the worlds stuff adds up to being separated from God for all eternity.

But remember this my beloved friends. There is a vital important fact to keep in your heart. God never forgets his people (Genesis 8:1). He remembers all living things. God remembers those who loves him and those who reject him.

7} “Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? 8} If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.” (Psalm 139:7-8 KJV).

God’s mercy goes on from generation to generation, to all who fear him. God’s mercy toward those who love him will last for all eternity. God’s mercy toward those who reject him will last only until Judgment Day. (Psalm 89:2; Lamentations 3:22).

🗣📢 Last words: God gives names to the nameless in heaven. He writes their names in the perfect location. (Revelation 7:1-3; 14:1; 22:4; Isaiah 43:26; Genesis 19:29). God sets his seal on the foreheads of his servants.

This seal is the exact opposite of the mark of the Beast explained in (Revelation 13:16; 20:4). These two marks place the people in two distinct categories, those owned by God and those owned by Satan.

Who do you want to be remembered as belonging to?

🛐 Here’s a prayer you can pray to ask God to remember you. “Heavenly Father, thank you for this message of hope and redemption in spite of my messed-up life. Lord, sometimes I feel like no one remembers me.

Whether it’s been school, work, family, or friends, I feel left alone to myself. Lord, help me to recognize you are with me today. Forgive me for so easily forgetting your presence when I get busy or feel stressed.

Jesus, help me to take hold of your peace so the worries will fade. Lord, remind me I am walking on holy ground, because you see me as righteous. You are right in the middle of my challenges.

I choose to believe that you see me, you hear me, and you care for me. Give me grace to draw near to you. I want to know you better. Lord, reveal yourself to me. I long to see you fully and know your great love, power, and faithfulness.

Open my eyes to the evidence of your presence around me. Help me to see with fresh eyes the blessings you have already given me. Thank you for your faithful provision and your promise to never leave me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Your Charter Flight

Good morning, everyone from Pastor Todd Boxley, Welcome to “Try Jesus!” If this is your first time joining us, it’s great to have you with us. I would like to thank all the new members for joining “Try Jesus.” Also welcome those in Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Alaska, and Tennessee.

How many of you feel we are living in the last days? The last days have been the last days since transgression. Non-believers criticize the body of Christ for speaking about destructive times that are coming.

But what they fell to understand is that sin brings judgment and God’s wrath on the unrepentant. God loves his creation, but because he is holy, he cannot be one with sin. As the world continues in depravity, things will inevitably get worse.

Christians see the end times with joy because they will soon be reunited with their Savior and King! Praise God’s wonderful plan of redemption! Let’s look to the redeemer of our souls.

“Heavenly Father, thank you for giving us another day to rejoice in grace, mercy, and love. This is the day you alone have made, help us to be glad and rejoice in it! Thank you, for keeping us throughout the week and providing all that we need.

Lord, this morning we come before you today with humble hearts and faith. We ask for your guidance and strength. Show us the way and fill us with courage and wisdom. Holy Spirit, open our hearts to receive the true word today.

Help us to remember your love and grace and to be faithful in our service to you. Give us the patience and understanding to face life’s challenges with grace. We ask these things in your precious name, Amen.”

Last week we spoke about traveling and how it impacts one’s life. Today, we are still traveling. Let’s say, this is part two of your travel itinerary. Let’s begin with a question. How many of you have a favorite seat?

Did you know people find comfort in finding a seat that adds to their daily routines? What’s your favorite seat in your home? What’s your favorite seat at your local restaurant? How about attending a sporting event?

Some of you have a favorite seat when visiting family or friends. Some of you watch your favorite TV personalities have their favorite seating comfort space. When traveling, which airline seat is your favorite?

I recall watching an old repeat of Sanford and Son in which Fred and Lamont were going to visit a family member who had passed away. They needed to get there quickly, so they would have to fly.

Fred was terrified of flying and tried to get a seat and ticket for any other mode of transportation. But there was money involved so he gave in to Lamont’s encouragement about safe airline travel.

Once they arrived, they went through the security checkpoint before boarding the plane. As Fred walked through, he kept sounding the alarm. The security guy proceeded to check Fred with his wand. He then asked Fred to empty his pockets.

Fred kept delaying, so Lamont asked for what was in his pocket. Fred had a chain that had on it “A crucifix, A St.
Christopher’s Medal, A star of David, A crescent of Islam, a Buddha, and a mojo!”

Lamont asked him, “What do you need all these things for?” Fred told him “It’s flight insurance.” “On the ground I’m a Baptist, but up there I ain’t taking no chances.” The first time I saw that episode, I laughed so hard until tears came.

In this episode Fred and Lamont’s destination was St. Louis, Missouri. Fred was asked about which seat he preferred. “You wanna sit next to the window? No, there ain’t nothing out there I want to see.”

Fred was also concerned about the safety features the stewardess went over. Fred wanted everything of safety right next to his seat. That included a emergency window. (Which are only located in certain sections of the plane).

Fred’s seat became more and more uncomfortable. Before the plane took off, he went through every detail of things that could very easily kill him while on the ground. Drinking, heart attack, high cholesterol food, etc.

When I watched this episode, I was not a Christian at that time. But since I’ve lived on this side of God’s saving grace, I went back and looked at those things that Fred initially put his trust in.

Fred put his trust in titles, thinking these would carry him into the arms of God if the plane would crash. “A crucifix, A St.
Christopher’s Medal, A star of David, Acrescent of Islam, a Buddha, and a mojo!”

In essence, Fred thought that any doctrinal religion would keep him safe. Are all religions the same? Do all religions take you to that designated place? (Heaven).

You must be Born Again. Born of water and spirit to arrive in Heaven (Photo by Pixabay on Pexels.com)

Today, there are people who still trust in man’s way of ascending to heaven than what Jesus spoke about how one gains entrance into his Kingdom. The gospel (good news) is not complicated.

Jesus made it very clear to Nicodemus how one gains entrance into heaven. Please prayerfully read these verses aloud to yourself or to those who may be in your Bible study group.

3} Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4} Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?

5} Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6} That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

7} Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 8} The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

9} Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? 10} Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?

11} Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. 12} If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?

13} And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.” (John 3:3-13 KJV). What an amazing show of love Jesus took in explaining things to Nicodemus.

Did you know there are still people today who struggle with the term “Born-again?” Why? You simply have two births that are defined by Jesus, a physical birth, and a spiritual birth. Nicodemus was an intelligent person.

He was a devout Pharisee. Jesus revealed to him that the Kingdom would come to the whole world (John 3:16), not just the Jews. This spiritual birth was something he hadn’t fathom possible.

[Jesus’ Kingdom is personal, not national or ethnic, and his entrance requirements are repentance and spiritual rebirth. Jesus later taught that God’s Kingdom has already begun in the hearts of believers (Luke 17:21).]

When people repent of their sins and turn to Jesus for forgiveness by asking him to be Lord of their lives, their name is placed in his book of life (Revelation 20:
12-15). Those who reject God’s plan of salvation or believe he doesn’t exist will be cast into a lake of fire.

It’s not God’s will that any should perish and be sent away from his presence. Since spirits do not die, in their unregenerated state, they cannot live in heaven with a holy God (Revelation 20:
10-15; 21:8).

This is a spiritual death. Jesus did not create hell for humans. (Matthew 25:41). This is not a place just for criminals, rapist, murderers, or child molesters. It’s also a place for the religious (Matthew John 8:
42-45).

[Nicodemus undoubtedly would have been familiar with God’s promise to give a new heart and a new spirit to the faithful (Ezekiel 36:
25-26). Jesus was explaining the importance of a spiritual rebirth.]

Entering the Kingdom of Heaven starts with knowing Jesus (Photo by Pixabay on Pexels.com)

Today, God’s plan of salvation has not changed. People enter the Kingdom not by living a better life but by receiving a new life from God. It’s a top-down conversion, not a down up (my way conversion).

But since we are still talking about travel in today’s message, there are many who feel they can get to their destinations by charter flights. Have you ever been on a charter flight? Or maybe you own your own plane.

☆ Many people who use charter flights have far more flexibility than their scheduled counterparts, serving virtually any destination around the world, with itineraries that are tailored for every flight.

They are unscheduled and are not available as part of the regular routing offered by commercial airlines. No waiting in line. No security screenings. No baggage claims or malfunctioning carousels.

You don’t have to arrive hours before your flight, either. Instead, the schedule is created around you. Some private airports allow you to pull your car alongside your plane on the tarmac. What a way to get to your destinations!

There are many high-end types of charting flying. Some are private charters, public charters, affinity charters, cargo charters, etc. Professional sports teams will fly in luxury and style in chartered flights.

So, with all the various ways many travel the airways in luxury some have never seen before, Christians will one day be leaving this earth in a much spectacular way. There is a much, much, much, better way to get to your destination.

However, this destination is for true born-again children of God only. If you are alive when Jesus returns, this is one spiritual flight you do not want to miss. Last week I spoke about life in the departure and arrival.

That was more in living a full life in Christ as death approaches. This week involves the same scenario, but also knowing that Jesus could return at any moment to take us home. (Matthew 24:
20-3135-42).

This is a one-way trip. There are no connecting spiritual flights needed. (false religions or doctrines). The end times will not be a summer picnic for the world. But for Christians, it shall be a beautiful reunion.

Paul gave a beautiful similar visual demonstration to those in Corinth. Please read these verses aloud for encouragement to your spirit. God is very pleased when we read his living words back to him.

49} “And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. 50} Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

51} Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52} In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

53} For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.” (1 Corinthians 15:49-53 KJV). Christians alive on the day when Christ returns will not have to die but will be transformed immediately.

There will be no second spiritual flights for those left behind. There will be some who go through the tribulation period, face death, but will be with the Lord. (Revelation 7:
13-15).

Paul explained more about this taking up, (rapture) to those in Thessalonica.
16} “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17} Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18} Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 KJV).

Those who will be caught up (snatched away) from this corrupt world, will be ushered in with a trumpet blast. Soon after, the old sinful world will be burned up and a new heaven and earth will be brought in its place (2 Peter 3:9-13).

There are many religions today that feel and teach there are many ways to God’s Kingdom. They will ask, “What makes you Christians think Jesus is the only way?” Well, because Jesus himself said he is the only way, truth, and life to his Kingdom (John 10:
1-10; 14:6).  ”Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you had known Me, you would know My Father as well. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.”

John 14:6-7 BSB

Have you ever tried to get on a plane going out of the country with someone else’s passport. Or maybe you’ve tried to use someone’s credit card to make purchases. Even still, maybe you’ve tried to use someone’s identity to receive death benefits.

The same way authorities will eventually catch up with them down here, God will immediately know whether you have been blood washed and born again by the Spirit prior to your death.

You see my friends, you must be fit spiritually to rise up and meet Jesus in the air. Just as you would not get on a plane headed for Alaska in January wearing a two-piece bathing suit, you cannot enter the Kingdom of God without being spiritually transformed.

Jesus is the resurrection and the life. Just as he was resurrected with a glorified body, we too shall be resurrected to a new life and a body like Jesus has (1 John 3:
1-2).

”Behold what manner of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him. Beloved, we are now children of God, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when Christ appears, we will be like Him, for we will see Him as He is.“

1 John 3:1-2 BSB

https://bible.com/bible/3034/1jn.3.1-2.BSB

Born-again Christians will have eternal, resurrected bodies. They will be free from sin and pain, and will have much more understanding than they do now on earth. The Bible tells us he will not remember our sins anymore (Hebrews 8:12-13).

God purifies us perfectly upon going to be with Jesus (raptured). But we must also take steps to remain pure before we leave this earth. (1 Timothy 5:22; James 4:8; 1 Peter 1:22).

Every time we resist a temptation or turn from sin, we become more like Jesus while living on this earth. In closing, here is everything you need to know how you can be ready when Jesus returns to take you up on “Spirit Airlines.”

Imagine your boarding pass (your body) looking something like this. Earthly body is perishable. A resurrected body is imperishable. Your body is sown in dishonor (sinful). It is raised in glory when born-again.

It was born and sown in weakness. But once saved, it shall be raised in power. It is a natural body at birth and carries the seed of sin. It is renewed by the Holy Spirit’s taking up residence in your life.

It comes from the dust, but once born-again, it will be raised to heaven. Remember my beloved friends, we all have different bodies here on earth. Jesus sees beyond these frail bodies. He sees our broken spirit.

People today see race in everything. Jesus came to give us eyes to see spiritually. That means loving a person deeper than the color of their skin. The flesh produces evil, hatred, thoughts, and separations, putting people in different flesh camps.

Jesus came to cross and destroy all racial barriers that Satan has put up and blinded their hearts. (John 10:10; 2 Corinthians 4:
3-4; Romans 1:18-32; 1 Samuel 16:7).

”The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come that they may have life, and have it in all its fullness.“

John 10:10 BSB

https://bible.com/bible/3034/jhn.10.10.BSB

”And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers so they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.“

2 Corinthians 4:3-4 BSB

https://bible.com/bible/3034/2co.4.3-4.BSB

Appearance doesn’t reveal what people are really like or what their true value is. Fortunately, God judges by faith and character, not appearance. Who spoke these famous words some time ago?

“I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.”

🗣📢 Last words: Do you recall a time when you were away from home and desperately missed it? Maybe you were on your honeymoon or away visiting a family member. Do you remember how your heart ached for home? That’s how born-again

believers feel about heaven. We are a displaced people, longing for our home. All those who live in the flesh and those in the Spirit will be fully realized when Jesus returns again to judge the world and abolish evil forever (Revelation 21–22).

Those who have a relationship with Jesus Christ and accept him as Savior and Lord will live with him forever. Sin is the only barrier that keeps us from God. When you know Jesus, repent of your sin, and accept Jesus’ perfect sacrifice.

Only Jesus can remove your sin, save you, and guaranteed you entrance into heaven. Alot of people have tried to predict the day of Christ’s return, but scripture is straightforward. No one knows the day or the hour.

Jesus said to stay awake because his coming will be a surprise.
“Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.” (Revelation 16:15; 1 John 2:28-29 KJV).

The thing that matters is being ready every day for his return. Jesus does not give false gods or false christ that show the way to God. In 2024, He himself is the only way, the only truth, and the only life.

Are you ready to be caught up!

🛐 Here’s a prayer you can pray about not missing your spiritual flight to glory. “Heavenly Father, I pray that there will be no delays in my journey to the place you have prepared for me.

Thank you for every word of truth and instruction in keeping me from being left behind in this corrupt world. I pray that as I maneuver through this world day by day, that you would guide me through all of the enemy’s obstacles.

Lord be with me as my ever-present helper. Give me your peace in my heart as I have to go through the different checkpoints in my life. Lord, I pray that you would keep me safe when I travel.

Lord, keep me as the apple of your eye and be the lamp that lights my feet and the light that lights my path. Father, help me to always seek your Kingdom above what the world and the devil try to trap me in.

Thank you, Lord, that you will be with me throughout this whole journey of life. May I be filled with your peace as I travel from place to place. Keep me in your eternal love. Thank you for placing my name in your book of life. Amen.”

Departure and Arrival  Heaven Awaits for those who FINISH the Race.

Good morning, everyone. Welcome to “Try Jesus!” If this is your first time joining us, it’s great to have you with us. I would like to thank all the new members for joining “Try Jesus.” Also welcome those in Arkansas, Washington, South Carolina, and Iowa.

The world is speeding at an incredible rate towards corruption. You can see the devastation every day by watching your local or national news. Some of our most intelligent people are even building rockets to jet away to another planet.

Will it work? Not really. Why? Because the sin nature corrupts where ever it is planted. That’s why people die, animals die, trees and plants die, and yes, planets also die. What’s the answer to fix it all?

There’s only one man. And he rules over everything. “Let’s pray, “Heavenly Father, thank you for another Sunday where your presence fills this ministry and those who desire to know you.

Thank you Lord, for watching over us this week. Thank you for giving us the breath of life today. Thank you for meeting all our needs. Thank you for the joy of the Lord. Thank you for the fruit of the Holy Spirit.

Lord, open hearts and minds to receive your precious word that will guide us into all truth that sets us free. Give us an understanding heart to absorb your living words today. It’s in your gracious name we pray, amen.”

Did you know that God has a timetable for every life that arrives and leaves this earth?(Photo by Pixabay on Pexels.com)

Did you know that at any given time there are approximately 93,
000 flights that take off from approximately 9,000 airports. Also at any given time, there are between 8,000 and 13,000 airplanes in the air.

In the United States, there are 30,
000 flights with two million passengers on board that take off every single day. Commercial planes carry approximately 7,782 to 8,755 customers at any given time during the season.

So, there are a lot of planes in the air every day. Most of them we don’t even see. We are certainly glad that they stay in the air, and get to their destinations. How many of you have those frequent flying miles?

There are many people who may not know how these flying miles work. Many airlines have frequent-flyer programs. Those flying miles, or award miles, add up to currency. It’s like saving coupons at your grocery store.

With flying, you earn miles for flying with an airline, and you redeem those miles for free flights, and upgrades. Those of you who fly all the time have become aware of the flying language and definition terms throughout airports.

Some aviation or airport lingo might be words like ATC, gatehouse, ground stop, jet way, and knots. After spending an enormous amount time around travel through flying, things start to become natural.

How many of you have flown to all fifty states? Can you remember each airline you took without checking your fly stubs? Do you remember the names of the pilots or attendants when you flew to your destinations? How many points have you saved up?

Points can be used in all walks of life to can some sort of advantage in a way that makes life a little more pleasant in a favorable way and positive outcomes. Any of you ever try to gain points with your favorite teacher during the school year?

When other kids saw you doing something nice for the teacher, they would refer to you as seeking out some brownie points. It seems like there are times in life when we look to garner points anyway we can.

In relation to our flying adventures, it’s always fun and excruciating to hear kids say, “Are we there yet?” After being in the air for twenty minutes? Children are great to have on departure and arrival trips during family vacations.

Many of you recall the adventures of Kevin McCallister and his family air troubles. How many of you have had those rushing out the door moments when the clock failed? How much effort do you put into your family getting ready before your departure?

These departure times don’t stop for our benefit. Those departure times sneak up on us and is here before we’re completely prepared for it. So, how many of you have ever missed your flight?

That’s the ultimate disappointment in air travel. Especially if you have someone waiting to meet you on your arrival time. Do you think this is as bad as picking up the wrong baggage upon arriving at your destination?

Some people, no matter how prepared they try to be, something causes them not to be ready for their departure time. We used to have a family member (I won’t mention her name) who would miss arrival times for everything.

She would always be the last one out the door. Eventually, my mother would tell us to let her know the time of any fun event two hours in advance. If we were all meeting at the bowling alley at 4 pm, we would tell her 2 pm.

Sometimes she’d still walk in just as we would just start to bowl a few frames. The clock continues to move regardless of our ability to function with it. Is time a friend or a nuisance to you? Regardless of how you feel, time is beyond your control.

As we open the word of God today, let’s see how our creator is involved in departure and arrival concerning time in our lives. Did you know that God has a timetable for every life that arrives and leaves this earth?

King David certainly understood his life around God’s omniscient.
14} “But I trusted in thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my God. 15} My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.” (Psalm 31:14-15 KJV).

You see beloved, all of life’s circumstances are under God’s control. The Bible says God knows our lying down and our rising up. (Psalm 139:1-36-813-18). God knows us from the womb to the tomb.

Those who believe they were a mistake in time or God had nothing to do with them being born when they arrived on earth are sadly mistaken. If God knows every strand of hair that falls from our head, he certainly knows our existence.

Everything living thing on earth is set in his timing. For example, turtles can live between
40-100 years long. But a fly has a lifespan of about two weeks to a month. But I didn’t realize the mayfly (once in maturity) lives only 24 hours.

Wow! Imagine if you knew your time of death in life, how would you spend it? I’ve heard stories of people who have been told by physicians that they have a certain amount of time to live. Most of those stories had something about being with those they loved.

That is important because no one wants to be alone when facing their departure and uncertainty about what happens in the afterlife. Unless you know someone, who is alive and has already gone through the process.

The answer can be found in these powerful words. (Psalm 24:
1-2; Colossians 1:13-20; Hebrews 1:3; John 11:25-26; 14:6; Revelation 1:17-18; 1 John 4:4). Jesus is the only answer to the departure and arrival of life.

This is a serious time for those who do not know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. And I’m not speaking about a religious experience. I’m speaking about an alive, living, breathing, relationship with Jesus. (John 3:
3-6; 10:9-11).

Jesus, lovingly explained all this to Nicodemus. When you are born, you are born with a natural birth. But because of being born with the seed of sin from Adam, you need to have a spiritual birth. Even so, we still have an appointment with death (Hebrews 9:
27-28).

Our departure and arrival in life can still be seen on every tombstone. It is a short unknown story about a life that most in the world may not know about. That dash between two dates represents a life that only God can fully know.

Even famous people may have some unknown stories in that dash between two dates about their life. But did you know your life’s departure and arrival can be filled with peace, and assurance? You can actually know that your life is in God’s piloting hands.

Paul certainly knew this when thinking about his departure. Paul told his friend Timothy he was ready to meet his Savior. Imagine that! Because Paul knew Jesus, he had confidence in his death and arrival to his real home.

This
100% guarantee of arriving where Jesus is supersedes any earthly airline travel you have taken. The airline industry’s impeccable safety record and improved timing of departure and arrival pales in comparison to God’s perfect piloting of getting you to glory (heaven).

Here were Paul’s assuring words to Timothy.
6} “For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7} I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

8} Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” (2 Timothy 4:6-8 KJV).

[Paul could confidently say that he had been faithful to his call. Thus, he could face death calmly, knowing that he would be rewarded by Christ. Paul confidently expected and looked forward to seeing Jesus again.]

I realize that some may never be completely prepared to say goodbye to loved ones when facing death, but God can flood a person’s heart with peace and assurance. You can hear him simply say, “It’s ok my son/daughter, you can let go now.”

I’ve been at the bedside of many friends and strangers facing the afterlife. I led my dad to the Lord, while he was in a coma.

I’ve seen those who have a relationship with the Lord rest in calmness and peace until he comes to take them home.

My dear niece, who died at the age of seven, definitely knew her departure time. She told her mother Jesus had come in her room the night before and said he was taking her home the next day. God is supremely so good!

My dad certainly was not ready for his spiritual flight into eternity. He had been delayed until he could understand that Jesus was his only pilot to heaven. Without Jesus, my dad’s destination would have been piloted by Satan.

These end-of-life trips are always one-way only. Let’s look at Paul’s words to Timothy again and break them down. Paul said I have fought the good fight. It seems we have been hearing more stories on TV about airline brawls.

That’s not a good place to be brawling, right? Your feet are in the air not on the ground. The last thing you want to happen is to distract the pilot and crew while the plane is flying. Paul was fighting a spiritual battle. (Ephesians 6:10-13; 2 Chronicles 20:15-17).

Sometimes religious people think they can walk in any place (like bars, clubs, strip joints, etc.). They try to tell others about Jesus. My first question is, “Did God really tell them to go?” Did they go in the flesh or the Holy Spirit’s guidance?

They must not have read (2 Corinthians 6:
14-18). Jesus and Satan cannot work together. There is no harmony between them. Yes, you can meet those individuals on a different ground and be an effective witness.

Sometimes the religious individuals remind me of the Sons of Sceva in (Acts 19:
13-20). Paul knew who the enemy was and tried to hinder his travels. Acts 16:16-18). God worked great miracles through Paul. (Acts 19:11).

Not only did Paul fight spiritual battles, he had finished his race (course of life). (Acts 20:24). Paul kept Jesus (the prize) in his sights. Paul’s course set up or flight plan was different than Stephen’s. Acts 7:
54-60).

Jesus was there for both of them upon their arrival. We can never think that we can set our own course having the world be our pilot to glory. Here’s an example to place in your memory next to your Bible.

A person who seemed to win a marathon was later scrutinized by race officials. They determined that the person had not completed the entire
26.2-mile course, but had registered for the race and later jumped in from the crowd and sprinted to the finish.

This person didn’t truly finish the race. Jesus would say it this way,
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.” (John 10:1 KJV).

In your quiet time please read and meditate on these other verses (John 10:2-11). God is the one who lays out our flight plan of life for us. (Jeremiah 29:11; Philippians 1:6). God wants us to faithful and a good steward of what he’s blessed us with.

We all may experience those air turbulent flights throughout our lifetime. Paul suffered many things towards his departure. He endured incredible persecution, torture and abuse, yet at the end of it all, sitting in a wet, smelly prison cell, he said “I have kept the faith.”

Paul’s sufferings are well noted. (2 Corinthians 11:
23-31). He counted all things as rubbish compared to meeting his Lord and Savior. Paul kept his eyes on the prize. Like looking out the window as your flight arrives at its destination.

“Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day.” (2 Timothy 4:8).

When I used to play basketball on a consistent basis, nothing felt better than hearing family or my coaches say, “Well done, Todd.”

Jesus has these loving words for you on a greater scale. (Matthew 25:
14-23). Jesus loves you more than you will ever comprehend. His love covers and fills those who except his presence (Revelation 3:20; 1 John 3:1; 4:10-12; John 3:16).

There are many great stories in the Bible about people waiting on the arrival of loved ones and friends. Your assignment for today is to find at least five outcomes in the Bible that involved wonderful reunions of those waiting to see their loved ones.

Before we close for the day, one of my favorite departure stories is the friendship between Elijah and Elisha. The time they knew each other was special. The relationship between Elisha and Elijah in the Bible was one of teacher and student.

God did mighty miracles through Elijah and Elisha certainly took notice. When it came time for Elijah’s spiritual departure to take place, Elisha was not going to miss this spectacular event.

Have you ever given someone a gift to remember you when you are about to board your plane during your goodbyes to each other? Talk about a departure from this earth. Elijah was prepared to leave (just as Paul was).

But Elisha was not going to let Elijah out of sight for one minute. (2 Kings 2:
1-9). Elisha was determined to receive something from Elijah before his departure. Elisha had to witness how Elijah would leave before receiving this gift.

Have you ever waited to see your loved one’s flight leave the airport? Could you see which seat they were in? Could you see them waving goodbye to you? Elisha was given the chance to see a chariot and horses of fire pick up Elijah.

This departure was right on time. Can you visualize that in your heart and mind (2 Kings 2:11). It didn’t matter that Elisha was clinging close to Elijah. This trip was for one occupant only. (2 Kings 2:
12-15). But Elisha did receive a special blessing.

There are other stories involving God being in the midst of those who were facing departure in their lives. (2 Peter 1:15; Hebrews 11:22; Acts 20:29). Everyone has a departure for their life.

Your boarding pass and destination cannot be changed once you receive the dash between two dates. It’s important to not delay which spiritual flight you will take. Today is the day to choose.

🗣📢 Last words: There’s opportunity today for you to “make reservations” with God for your eternity in heaven. Is your life preparing you for death? How do you live each day in light of eternity?

Paul confidently expected and looked forward to seeing Jesus again. Will you do the same? Here’s something to remember when giving Jesus control of your life.

A) You can face the departure with excitement. Know that absent from the body means present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:
7-10).

B) It’s not so much because of how exciting the departure itself will be, but living your life with Jesus before going to your real home. Remember what Moses said before God took him home. (Exodus 33:
18-23; 2 Kings 6:16-17).

C) When you receive Jesus as Lord and Savior, upon departing this life, your destination can never be detoured to another location. (Ephesians 1:
13-14; 4:30).

Remember my friends, you don’t necessarily have to have your carry-on luggage packed, just be ready when the Lord brings you home. Sometimes our departure may happen differently than others.

Just read your Bible to see how other departures took place. Our departure could come from hospitals, nursing homes, and illness. But, if we can keep our eyes on our destination, (Jesus) It will be worth it all, Amen?

♡♡♡Your recap: Fight the good fight, the devil has already lost the battle.

♡♡♡ Finish the race. Don’t give up when the load gets heavy. Jesus carried a cross, and the sins of the world, turn your burdens over to him.

♡♡♡ Keep the faith. The just shall live by faith. Hold on to that mustard seed of faith. Keep faith alive in your heart towards God. Blessed are those who have not seen him and yet

🛐 Here’s a prayer you can pray about departure. “Heavenly Father, I thank you for today’s message. Lord, most times I don’t think about leaving this earth. I confess, I stay away from things pertaining to death.

But deep inside, I know that it is a reality that could happen at any time in my life. I know that tomorrow is never promised, and my life is like a drop of vapor. After hearing today’s message, I now realize that I have a choice to avoid one of these destinations.

One day Lord, it will be the hour of my final journey. It is the moment of release
When my soul will give an account to you. I pray you would keep me and hold me in your loving arms as you guide my steps to follow yours.

Lord keep me under the shadow of your wings. Even though my destination may be through the valley, your holy rod and staff will comfort me. You are the God of the living, not the dead.

Lord, continue to be my guiding shepherd until my knees are before thy throne at your judgment seat. I can then say, blessed be the name of the Lord, who fulfilled his promised destiny for me. Thank you Lord, in Jesus name, Amen.

While Being in the World – Stay close to Jesus

 jesus christ is coming again

o “Try Jesus!” If this is your first time joining us, it’s great to have you with us. I would like to thank all the new members for joining “Try Jesus.” Also welcome those in Texas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, North Carolina, and Arizona.

How many of you have ever traveled to another town, city, state, or nation before? Did you know there are people who have never traveled any further than their zip code? When you traveled, what wonderful memories did you bring home?

Did your traveling experience make you want to stay, or hurry up and get back home? There can always be fond loving memories of traveling away from home. But there will always be no place like home, right?

I’ve heard some pretty unsettling stories from people about the disastrous time they had on their vacation trip. How many of you have ever cut your vacation short and couldn’t wait to get back home?

Many have heard the words, “This is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn’t want to live here.” We’ve also heard the words, “There’s no place like home.” There are many places in our society that are visited but no one likes staying there.

Some of these places are prisons, hospitals, and forests with wild animals. How about Alaska, or Iceland? What about the desert? Did you know there are people who actually moved to places without doing research first?

I can only imagine the false information they may have been given without checking the information themselves. There are many places that travel experts say people should consider visiting and perhaps relocating to.

Some will advise moving to places like Rome, Paris, New York, Cape Town, Brazil, Tokyo, and Istanbul. Have you ever visited any of these places? How was your experience? Did you have thoughts of home, or miss those back home?

Is there one common thing that would keep you coming back to these places? There is something that never changes no matter where you travel around the world, and that is “people.” What do I mean? Well, wherever you have people, things don’t change.

You may have heard me mention the phrase before, “The more things change, the more they stay the same.” Yes, there is beautiful scenery to behold all over the world. There are cultures that are different than where you live.

But at the core of every nation, people are physically the same. How so? Well, there’s good in people, and there is bad in people. If we all lived on the moon, would your personality change? You would still need those normal necessities of life to survive, right?

When it comes to changing, the true church of Jesus Christ follows a God who doesn’t change. There are many things in the world that are different today than 50 years ago. But in those 50 years God has not changed.

Let’s bring the word of God in today’s message. “For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore, ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.” (Malachi 3:6 KJV). When we as humans blow it, we can rest assured we have a God who is constant in Character and holiness.

God does not change as society moves in sin and defiance towards him. He remains the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8; James 1:17). As we prepare to have leadership changes in our country, Christians should keep their eyes on Jesus.

He is the author and finisher of our faith. In this constantly changing world, born-again believers trust in an unchanging Savior. The world rotates in chaos, corruption, and sin. But God moves in righteousness, peace, and joy in the Spirit.

Even when it seems the church is losing ground in the spiritual warfare before us, we must stay encouraged and know we serve a victorious God over sin and the devil. God is supremely in total control of all world events.

[God is the sovereign creator of the sun, moon, and stars. He gives us good gifts and illuminates our minds to see the goodness in these gifts. As his prized possessions, we are the ones to receive a foretaste of future blessings.]

Jesus spoke words that still apply to those today who waver in doubt and uncertainty. “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 KJV).

The words of Jesus brings peace and contentment. When you allow him to be Lord of your life, his peace is one of the benefits he gives you. As the world continues to fall apart, God floods his people with peace to endure it.

The peace the world offers, pales in comparison to the internal peace Jesus implants in our heart and soul. (John 14:27-29; 16:1-4; 16:8-11). Christians are never alone in this broken world. Jesus will never abandon you in your most difficult circumstances.

Lock these words in your heart today. He is my peace, who has broken down every wall, he is my peace, he is my peace. Cast all your cares on him for he cares for you, he is my peace, he is my peace.

God is wholeheartedly trustworthy to complete his will and purpose for your life. (Joshua 1:5; 1 Chronicles 28:20; Hebrews 13:5; Philippians 1:6). God has all the bases covered so you make it home. All that Jesus saves, he keeps.

As the church continues to walk on the narrow road in it’s pilgrimage towards home, the enemy will continue to use his attacks to make the church less effective and diluted while destroying unbelievers. (Ephesians 6:10-18; Daniel 7:25; 2 Corinthians 2:8-11).

Even as the persecution increases in 2024, God has promised to give his Kingdom to his holy people, his born-again believing saints. Praise God! He is our all-conquering King! Sometimes you just need to stop and offer praise! Amen?

Victory in Jesus! Remember beloved, the ultimate victory has already been won, we can claim the peace of Christ in the most troublesome times. Amen? Shout to the Lord, all the earth, let us sing, power and majesty, praise to the King!

Mountains bow down, and the seas will roar, at the sound of your name, I sing for joy at the work of your hands, forever I’ll love you, forever I’ll stand, nothing compares to the promise I have in you. Still praising?

This is why the church will not be defeated on its pilgrimage through this world. We are not conformed or shaped by what the world, the states, and our communities are trapped in. (Romans 12:1-2).

There used to be a song connected to a show about something not belonging. Care to guess where these lyrics are from. No cheating from your iPhone. Some of you can ask a relative. It certainly relates to how God runs his Kingdom.

🎶 “Three of these belong together, three of these things are kind of the same. Can you guess which one of these doesn’t belong here? Now it’s time to play our game, time to play our game.”

“Three of these kids belong together, three of these kids are kind of the same, but one of these kids is doing his own thing, now it’s time to play our game, it’s time to play our game. Yeah!” 🎶

These words speak of having fun and playing games. But the life of yourself and your loved ones is no game to be played with. Your soul is highly valuable to God. So valuable, that he sent his only son to be beaten, humiliated, mocked and nailed to a cross.

God did this because (as wide as Jesus arms were spread out) he loves his creation that much. He wants to live in a relationship with you. Not a religious dead, distance one, but a living, breathing, up close and personal one.

Jesus came to save and regenerate your spirit on this side of your life. Not after you leave this world, but before you leave this world. Those who leave this world without knowing Jesus will hear these words.

21} “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22} Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name?

and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23} And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” (Matthew 7:21-23 KJV).

The song phrases that are above fit with the words Jesus will speak to those who accept his love gift of salvation and those who reject his love gift, eternal life. Dying in this world without Jesus leaves you empty handed and lost for eternity.

31} “When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

32} And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

33} And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. 34} Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world” (Matthew 25:31-34 KJV).

41} “Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

45} Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. 46} And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.” (Matthew 25:41,45-46 KJV).

Please also read aloud to yourself or those who may be in a group with you. (Luke 13:23-30). Reading aloud God’s own words back to him says you are in agreement with what his living eternal word says (Hebrews 4:12-14).

If you read a few more verses past verse 30 of Luke 13, you see that Jesus has all-power over Satan and those who he uses. (Verses 31-34). Jesus told the Pharisees that Herod is a fox. Jesus did not fear that sly and crafty man.

He imparts that same confidence in his born-again followers. 10} “In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word. 11} In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.” (Psalm 56:10-11 KJV). Also, Psalm 118:6; Hebrews 13:6).

Herod was blinded to the fact that

he was being used by the devil and his demons. Unbelievers walk on a road of darkness until they repent and walk on the path of righteousness. You cannot be loyal to the world and loyal to God at the same time.

John, the disciple of Jesus, wrote (inspired by the Holy Spirit) that we should not love the world, neither the things that are in the world. (1 John 2:
15-17). Loving the world, trying to save the trees, (while babies are aborted).

For those who think it’s possible to do both, I simply would ask the question, What are the values of God’s Kingdom, if he tells us not to be held in the grip of the worlds vices? Are God’s commandments and wisdom more important to your life?

Do your actions and lifestyle reflect the world’s values or God’s values? Do you reflect Jesus in your home, neighborhood, and nation more than what Satan offers you?

Remember, light and darkness cannot fellowship together. (Matthew 5:
14-16; Isaiah 50:10; Ephesians 5:8-11; 2 Corinthians 6:14-16). Satan offers a road paved with mirages everywhere. But it ends up costing your soul.

The world has many roads that have been paved into it, right? You can travel on many beautiful roads and behold beautiful scenery. You can also travel on ugly roads with horrible potholes and eyesore neighborhoods.

But as massive as the world is, and there are approximately
8-10 billion souls living on it, there are only two roads of life to walk on. One group is blindfolded the other group can see the finish line. (2 Corinthians 4:3-4; 2 Timothy 4:6-8; Acts 7:55-56).

The narrow road Jesus has his church and born-again believers on, eventually will be streets of gold, we walk on, and the glory of God that covers us. (Revelation 21:
21-27; 22:1-6).

Notice the road the world ends up on. It has nothing but gross darkness, pits, and a lake of fire. (Revelation 20:10,
14-15; 21:8; Psalm 9:15; 28:1; 55:23; Isaiah 38:18; Luke 16:22-24).

We must continue to stand on the truth of God’s Holy Word. We must also understand that God did not create the road of destruction for those who choose to walk on it. After Adam and Eve transgressed against God, the world and their seed became their road.

Those who would repent of their sins found that this road had a cross on it. It carried the only blood that could wash away our sins. Now we must take up the cross and follow Jesus. How so? Just surrender your heart to Jesus, and follow him (Mark 10:
17-23).

This passage is more than about money that people focus. Money, in of itself, is not evil. Remember, God allowed many of his followers to gain wealth. Abraham, Job, Solomon, David, just to name a few.

Being on the road of righteousness means not carrying things that you will leave behind at the end of your life. Who was it that wanted to be buried in his car? I forgot the famous person’s name. Maybe you guys can let me know.

[This passage about the rich young ruler shows us that we must not let our possessions or money keep us from following Jesus. If we are not following him faithfully, whatever we grasp tightly will eventually strangle or choke our hearts.]

If he later at the end of his life did not repent, he would end up just like the man in (Luke 16:
19-25). Christians believe that when we ask Jesus to forgive us of our sins and believe that God raised him from the dead, we shall be saved (Romans 10:8-10,13).

Christians should never allow their minds to be conformed to the worlds way of thinking. (Romans 12:2). Jesus told us many things about the world. One thing Jesus certainly emphasized was that he is the light of the world (John 8:12).

Because the world has rejected this light, they move around in darkness (John 14:17; Isaiah 60:
1-3; Jeremiah 13:15-17). Again, Jesus told us many things about the world and its persecution of his followers. (John 15:18-20; 18:36; 1John 2:16-17).

The word world refers to a world system ruled by Satan. We as born-again believing Christians readily appreciate Jesus’ claims that believers are no longer of the world. (John 17:
9-16).

My mother would always say, “Sweetheart, the world is going to hell in a hand basket!” When I was younger, I never quite understood that saying, but I knew it meant nothing good was in that hand basket.

I also decided to stay away from all my mother’s hand baskets (Smile). From all the pride, lust, power, and greed in the world spewed out by Satan, these temptations, when conceived, brings forth death (James 1:
14-16).

The world, and the timing of Jesus’ return reminds me of a woman who goes through her full term pregnancy. At the end of her pregnancy, she brings forth the most beautiful boy or girl created in the image of God.

The world also has these pangs. But Peter spoke well through the Holy Spirit concerning the demise and end of the world. God promised never to destroy the earth by flood again. But this time it shall be destroyed by fire.

9} “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

10} But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

11} Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

12} Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

13} Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.” (2 Peter 3:9-13 KJV).

[Sin has caused all creation to fall from the perfect state in which God created it. The world is subject to frustration and bondage to death and decay. One day all creation (those who confess Jesus as Lord and Savior) will be liberated and transformed.]

🗣📢 Last words: In 2024, Jesus still remains the only way, the truth, and the life, for a dark and dying world. Until Jesus returns, he told his disciples to occupy until he returns. True Christians should remain vigilant and steadfast in spreading the gospel. (Luke 19:12-17).

God has given all of us spiritual gifts to use for the benefit of his Kingdom. Do you want his Kingdom to grow? Are you as concerned for your family, neighbors, and friends going to heaven as you are for yourself?

Again, as I mentioned earlier, Jesus testified that he is the light of the world. Today, if you know Jesus, then he is the light of your salvation. (Psalm 27:1; John 1:
1-14).

Jesus was never affected by the attitude of the world. He’s eyes were always on his Father. Being the God-man, Jesus defeated Satan at the cross. However, worldliness can affect us in our sin nature if we as Christians give in to it.

[This worldliness begins in the heart and presents itself by three attitudes:]

A) Craving for physical pleasure and preoccupation with gratifying physical desires.

B) Craving for everything we see. Also, the accumulation of things, bowing to the god of materialism.

C) Pride in our achievements and possessions. Having obsession with our status or importance. When the devil tempted Eve (Genesis 3:6), he tempted her in these areas.

The Holy Spirit was sent to convict this world sin. To convict means “to convince,” “to expose the facts,” or “to refute or cross-examine.” Three important convicting tasks of the Holy Spirit are:

1) Convincing people of their sinfulness to prepare them to seek repentance and God’s mercy.

2) Revealing the standard of God’s righteousness to anyone who believes, because Jesus is no longer physically present on earth.

3) Demonstrating Jesus’ authority over Satan and his ultimate judgment and defeat of all evil. This conviction can convince us that what Jesus promises will come true and give us courage to live out our faith in a fallen world.

So, while you are in this world, what path and road do you want to travel on? The one without any light? Only destruction and suffering await you there. Or do you want the gospel to light your way into eternity?

In this life, we walk through a dark forest of evil. But the Bible can be your light to show you the way ahead, so you won’t stumble as you walk. Today, grab hold of the light to reach your desired destination!

🛐 Here’s a prayer you can pray while maneuvering through this dark world. “Heavenly Father, I thank you for today’s message. Jesus, may your word today help those get off the path of darkness and corruption.

Lord, help those whose feet have taken them to dark places in this world. Many have ended up in ruin and pain. Help them Lord to not turn to the left or the right, but to see you in front of them leading them through all this evil.

You have already laid out your will, plan, and purpose for their life. Help them today to walk in your righteousness and footsteps. Jesus, there is so much brokenness in this world. Help them and other families that are suffering.

Please keep families together and united in love inviting you into their trials and tribulations. Lord, I pray for reconciliation of broken lives Satan has crushed.

I pray for each individual whose family has been torn apart by divorce, abuse, abandonment, drugs, alcohol, death, and any other circumstance. I pray that they are able to find hope in you.

I pray for the families that are on the verge of being torn apart by the worlds devilish influence. I pray that you heal and deliver them. I pray for those who don’t have a family.

Let them find a loving, kind, and supportive family who will encourage them. Allow them to find a family within the kingdom of God. Provide them with comfort only you can supply. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
